I could have sworn i saw him geeing the players up before extra time he cannot help it if the cameras are thrust in his face ffs the bloke has carried his country into the euros single handedly and imo the players rallied for him not because of him, the bloke is a legend an absolute collosus of the game and every portugal player knows it.

He does take his top off a lot though.

Ronaldo was embarrassing and the TV coverage I watched was embarrassing. Spent most of the time after they had won the trophy with the cameras focussed on Ronaldo flat on the floor, rather than watching the players who were celebrating out on the pitch. Just how long did he lay there milking in before going over to the rest of the team?

I had to laugh earlier, he was running up and down the pitch, albeit very laboured, but as soon as he decided he was coming off, he was beyond walking to the touchline and he needed a stretcher. Me, me, me, me, me.

Quality player, who has everything, but what a drama queen.

They are all drama queens, how many times did we see players, officials etc checking the big screen to get a glimpse of themselves.
God I hate this league.

If you throw yourself to the floor you are going to get cameras thrust in your face. That had nothing to do with team but me, me me me, syndrome. All the other players celebrated together, he forgot them tbh.

He could quite simply have gone over and joined in the celebration with them. The bloke is a fantastic player but a total bell end

Not bothered reading this thread.

Like a fair number of the Euro matches I thought the first 90 minutes were diabolically boring. I couldn't take anymore so I went to bed and read a book.

This slow motion, cat and mouse, devoid of excitement, possession football is killing the game.

It's the continental way I suppose, just imagne the English style games in some of the temps they play in.

In my eyes Dave it should be possible for more players than the goalkeeper to pass a ball forwards. You can count 10 or 11 passes before the ball gets back to this guy in the nets who doesn't have to pick it up before starting another passing session, exactly like the last one, before he gets it back again. Then the famous statisticians tell us that the team dominated possession whilst shots at goal normally amount to 1 or 2 with 100% of these off target.

Don't recall the temperatures being a lot cooler when football was more exciting to watch either.

The media obviously went for the superstar of the Welsh team but to be fair to him, he didn't play up to it and when they celebrated, they celebrated together, as a team.

FWIW I didn't think it was a foul . Don't know if that is due to Claret and Blue tinted specs or not . I genuinely thought it was a fair tackle much like the tackle he made about 8 seconds earlier

I was astounded ( by both ) ...Payet doesn't normally " Do " tackling

Payet seemed off the pace anyway, and I think the collision was totally accidental. The odd thing for me about the game in general was that Ronaldo going off seemed to have a positive effect on Portugal and a negative effect on France. It looked to me as if France had set up in a very solid formation to combat Ronaldo, and when he went off they didn't know what to do. Their midfield players like Pogba and Payet stayed far too deep, as did Griezman. The exception was Sissoko who at least tried to burst forward. I suppose it was up to Deschamps to sort it out after Ronaldo went, but players at that level should really be able to sort it out themselves. The French players seemed to think that without Ronaldo the Portuguese team would just gift them the game, and when they didn't they couldn't do anything about it
