You also get the feeling that some of the english press would quite like to report on some english hooliganism as well. That Telegraph link for example doesnt mention the fact that it was potentially the locals who attacked English fans until one of the final few paragraphs.

I was in that exact spot on New Years Eve, sat on the harbour in baking sunshine. Lovely place. Great little restaurant in the corner just down from the Queen Vic. Wouldn't have wanted to be there last night. Some fans just go too far with the drinking and the chanting. Suppose the local hoolies don't take kindly to their gaff being "occupied" by the English.

We stopped in a hotel right in the corner just up from the Old Vic and found a bar over on the other side that was on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the port as the sun belted down. We were there in July one year so it was rather warm!!

'England fans targeted and attacked by locals' doesn't get as many clicks or sell as many papers as 'Tanked up England fans clash with locals in another night of shame'.

It was never a good idea having an England game in Marseilles with the notoriety of the local ultras.

Problem was they sorted the schedule for which dates at which grounds well ahead of schedule then it was a case of how the draw went filling in the blanks. Once England ended up with the Marseilles opener by being drawn in Group B it couldnt really be changed.

I understand this but they could put stadiums and places to games and groups after the draw.
Taking into accounts situations like this

Much like the venue for the Europa League which was small compared to the teams playing in it!

Problem with this is its all planned well ahead of it actually happening so it can all be sorted. The Europa League final venue was selected a few years in advance when it wasnt known what teams would be in the comp let alone the final. I'm not sure its feasible, especially the Europa League, to do it all quite late when you have a good chance of knowing what sorts of teams would be in it.

I have just received a text from a good friend, he has 2 tickets for the final of Euro 2016 but he didn't realise it will be on the same day as his wedding so he can't go....

If you are interested and want to go instead of him, please message me.

Looks like plenty of bother again so far tonight. Much more suggestion of England fans to blame this time. You have to be a special kind of stupid to go causing trouble like that.

Is it English fans causing it?
Is it a mix of English Russian fans starting it?
Is it over handed police on one Side allowing the others to start it?
A new hope.

Sadly there was always the possibility of a reaction to last night's attack by French hoolies. But tonight it seems to involve police rather than local trouble makers.

I wouldn't want to be there in Marseille full stop. No doubt there's an element of our idiots drinking too much, showing off and chanting rubbish. Equally I'm sure the local nutters are well up for a scrap and the police are little help.

It'd be an 'in and out' job if I had tickets for the game as I wouldn't want to be part of it.

They would be if they were away on holiday with their families, football trips with the lads clearly brings out the worst in them.

All England fans abroad are scum? Without knowing the facts how do you reach that conclusion exactly? Even if our fans are the ca use of even one incident, it's hardly a new phenomenon is it?

Talk about stereotype if only you were a bit more/less articulate you could get a job with the daily mail...

England fans in drinking and singing shocker!!!!

A few got attacked by the locals last night and reacted, tonight they were attacked by a few ruskie hooligans and again a mindless few reacted. The world's press were there waiting for a photo opportunity and cheap headline but all 50,000 there will be coke snorting lunatics eh? Do me a favour....

Yes there are some unsavoury types who follow us but I've been abroad with England and found that quiet bar in a side street but still been set about by locals and the police...in short you are talking bollox and don't have a clue as per usual!!!!
