I find myself very pleased that Russia just lost, regardless of how it affects the group.

I've a feeling England will beat Wales. A draw with Slovakia then becomes quite likely as 4 points for them should see Slovakia qualify.
These go to eleven.

I know it's not in Uefa's remit but trouble post Russia v Slovakia in Lille again. It didn't say who was involved but further scenes of the French police spraying everyone in sight with tear gas.

Having seen them yesterday I doubt many people will be picking fights with the Magyars!

Earlier debate on here has established that the French police wouldn't spray everyone with tear gas, nor would they ever hit any innocent football supporter who didn't deserve it! That also goes for any other police force either at home or abroad...

Please retract those scurrilous words! :D

Whilst we are discussing the actions of the Fench police, I understand there is a very experienced delegation of UK police officers over there. Does anyone know what they are doing??
I'm not suggesting they are enjoying a month travelling around France watching the Euro's with the added bonus of dragging a decent wedge or anything like that, you understand.
It's just, upto yet, it has been a total and utter disaster with basically non-stop trouble from day one.

Perhaps one of our fellow Spireites over there can answer the question. From my understanding, the football police are also there as a form of liaison officer when travelling to away games. Are they liaising with the fans and offering advice and support to the innocent English fans ??

I am pleased as well as have tickets for the last 16 game in Paris in which group B winners play. The worst case scenario was that it could have been Russia, given today's result virtually impossible for them to win the group now. Hopefully England do the business tomorrow, although would not be too upset if Wales win the group.

It was the uk police spotters that identified the tooled up Russians early on but the French police didn't act on it. Also do they have any remit to do anything other than advise?

That's my take on it as well, basically there to advise on potential English troublemakers but ended up spotting the Russians as well.

What's Stan Collymore doing wandering around videoing everything? Mildly amusing in a strange way.

France grab a late winner again. Shoe-in to win the tournament at this rate

That is a very brave claim. They have enough decent players to make home advantage count in the end

Dunno but, you'd think with his history he'd want to stay well clear of covering this aspect of the tournament

Hopefully he manages to film himself getting filled in by a gang of Russians.
