It wouldnt stop me going had i got the time, tickets and money to go to the Euros. We'll be off to France in August for 2 and a half weeks like we do every year.

Other half went to London a couple of days after the Brussels attacks when she could have not bothered, friend of ours went to Paris on Eurostar the day after the Brussels attacks. We cant stop getting on with life and doing stuff we want to just because something may happen.

Statistically probably more chance of getting beaten up by Russian fans!

If terrorists have the phone app would they also be alerted and blow somewhere else up instead?

If I was going I would avoid popular/busy bars, maybe drink and eat a bit further out.

I did Germany in 2006 my advice would be to not stand near the wrong lot because you'll be detained. These lads from Newcastle who were stopping at our fansite spent a few days in prison they were on their first pint and stop near our "singers" at Stuttgart...their tale of what happened inside wasn't good. Really nice lads.

We luckily saw the problem and moved off..just in time. And be careful id rather not go to this one... our opponents in the opening fixture are target number 1 for extremeists given putins bombings...I don't think the media are hyping it up...2 enemies in one place to those monsters with Russia and England.

There will be plenty of places they can cause serious harm without going near the obvious ones like the stadium and the fans zones

You are just as vulnerable out there, security is at it's heaviest where the crowds mass.
God I hate this league.

Its less likely they would hit a quiet place away from the centre imo.

I'm not going down the route Jon of being put off from going. I am merely concerned that no matter how much security they have the fans are so vulnerable.

Everyone should not be deterred from going. Just talking about minimising the risk here

But is that different from any place where crowds congregate such as train stations, airports etc.

Jesus this is hard work, not at all but like I said the security forces can't stop anyone so determined.

It has started already, bomb scare at Marseille. My philosophy is that I would sooner die standing up than live on my knees

I've stopped in that Old Port area of Marseilles and its lovely....shame this has happened already. That said i'm not going to jump on the back of england fans and lump them all in a big pot as trouble makers. Yes there will be some drunk idiots who will be acting like idiots but if there is one club that has a big hooligan issue in France its Marseilles, its probably the worst place we could have ended up in for a game to be honest. The Marseilles hooligans will have had their day made when they realised the english would be rolling into town.

Marseille Ultras kicked it all off by attacking English, according to some reports. The fog of war, eh?

You also get the feeling that some of the english press would quite like to report on some english hooliganism as well. That Telegraph link for example doesnt mention the fact that it was potentially the locals who attacked English fans until one of the final few paragraphs.
