This afternoon I will take a trip to the Proact and renew my season ticket for 2016/17.

I do this because I am a fan of my team. I did not choose Chesterfield FC. It was in my blood from being a kid. My Dad first took me as an 8 year to an even then decaying Saltergate back in 1968. A nil nil versus Workington on Boxing Day. The first home game that season we hadn't won. I should have known that being a Spireite would involve disappointment and joy, sadly as every football fan knows, more of the former.

We have seen many near collapses of this Club in my time as well as a few great days, Cups won, Championships secured. We have hovered between the bottom two division of the Football League always dreaming of the Championship last visited in 1951. I have seen administrations, takeovers, rescues by local business and even the Fans themselves. I have vowed a million times to do something else on every other Saturday between August and May but I never do.

I love my Club through thick and thinner. So when I hand over my hard earned later with a begrudging smile I will know I am in for more pain and frustration and hopefully a dash or two of excitement and joy. If we end up in league 2 I won't demand my money back just as I wouldn't if we were in the National League or the North Counties East. There is no logic to this lunacy but there we go. Despite what many write on here I know you will all be behind the team at the weekend and again at Valley Parade if need be. You will forget whatever and whoever is currently taking the blame and remember like me that its probably your Dad, Grandad or Uncles fault, maybe even your Mum or your Brother or Sister that is the real target for your angst.

I couldn't imagine life without my beloved Blues and my footy mates and Saturday, just like a countless times before, along with thousands of others I will put history and agony to one side and shout as loudly as I can to preserve our current league status and cheer the boys over the line. COME ON YOU BLUES!

PS Dad I will come and see you and Mum pre-match at your brick in the wall of fame and simply say thanks and then offer up a little prayer.

Most ST holders will renew but the club shouldn't have brought forward the EB deadline as it did. Most would renew even if they knew we were relegated. I don't know how many would renew if we were in the Conference but guess it would be 50%

After 35 years of watching town, not religiously i may add as i worked and played football for many seasons, i have never been to so few games and never felt so disillusioned.I am getting a season ticket for my lad but not for me, im tired by the lavk of drive work ethic and ambition at the club.

Frustrating game: Boxing Day 1967. Pity we cannot attract crowds like that now.

I only go for the company of the east stand massive tbh and I definitely blame my Dad but he says it's not his fault..... its all down to Ollie Banks!!!!

If his moaning gets any worse I will be sorely tempted to put a brick in his wall of fame.....

Like you I have been on the go since 1965 it is in the blood, thick and thin times but still proud, was part of the Barry Watson crew. Good times

I've been a season ticket holder for very nearly 50 years and have witnessed many relegations during those years.
During those relegations, spirit and passion had always been present and it was usually down to the fact that the league was full of strong teams or management errors.
This time though it is due to something completely different.
It is down to a businessman failing at managing affairs and staff when we had a successful side and then by selling almost all the talent we had at car boot sale prices.
Surely it would have been better to sell half of them and still retain a strong side, be competitive and remain in L1.
It was after all not the fans who appointed the highly sought after {only joking) Dean Saunders, who then threw money away on the likes of foodbanks.
The final insult was to bring forward the deadline of earlybird season tickets. Dirty tactics indeed.
I will not be renewing mine for the first time in 46 years unless we remain in L1 due to the said dirty tactic.

I was a bright eyed 6 year old walking into Saltergate in 1969/70 my first year and we won the Division 4 title I thought it was always going to be like that. Then Aston Villa in the old Division 3 there was thousands of them a great memory. I have been a regular since. I bought shares in CFSS and blew the holiday fund my wife understood why I have a brick in the South stand simply for the love of it. and cried on the pitch at Saltergate more than once I felt numb when I walked away for the last time. This is me nothing special just a seasoned old Spireite just like a lot of people. Sadly I have started to feel less and less a part of the club and for the first time have started to question why I bother

I'll be renewing mine and my daughters on Wednesday Daz. It's in the blood. I know I'm going to go irrespective so may as well get the best price. I'm frustrated as hell and wouldn't pi$$ on the current regime if they were on fire
, but the way I see it is it's our club and when those incompetents have gone it will still be our club. We need all the support we can get.
