In general do clubs that have a good season, like us getting to the play offs, and don't get promoted end up losing all their best players? Or is just us?

some clubs even have the power to click "reject bid" when a team offers money for their best players (see Gillingham - Dack)

If Gillingham don't go up via play offs I can't see them turning down £2m in the summer if its offered.

Depends on the club. MK Dons were in and around the play offs for a number of years but kept the nucleus of their squad together whilst adding a few year on year. They kept their squad together on being promoted and I would suggest will keep a fair proportion for next year in L1 as well.

They did lose Alli and Afobe but one of those was a freak and one was on loan.

Leyton Orient Crashed and burned after making the play offs the previous year didn't they?

Not sure if they lost players in the summer?

Most will stay as they have Champions League footie. The exception may be Kante, but I don't think they'll be crying if they receive £40M for him.

You're right but they might yet regret that privately.

Yeah to be fair I think they should've snapped 2mil up right away, but still the point is they had the hogwash to reject it I guess.

The idea you 'can't stand in players' way' is clearly rubbish as a blanket statement.

Burton surely disprove this theory. Failed in the play offs for two seasons running in 12-13 and 13-14, champions in 14-15, and favourites to be automatically promoted this season.

I suppose it depends on contract  would these clubs have said no to deals if the player had only 12 months left on contract the only players to have more than that were doyle and clucus both of which we got good deals for imo it may have been better to keep doyle for six more months
