Wonder if there’s any youth team players that will now be offered contracts.

I understand it’s confirmed that the club is going to be rejoining the EFL academy system. That means quite a lot of additional funding coming in the door for the development of young players. And I’m also told that it includes some extra EFL funding for any home grown players in the first team squad based on appearances.

I have it on good authority that there’s been a lot of preparation going on at the academy in advance of them getting back their EFL funded status. And that they’ve been trialling young players from other clubs with a view to offering them contracts in the new youth set up. Hearing that parents of existing academy players have become bothered that players from other clubs are being looked at ahead of their kids. Those parents have been paying for the privilege of being in the academy during the time we’ve been non-league, so their disappointment is perhaps understandable. But at the end of the day is understandable. But let’s face it, if there are young players available from places like Forest or Sheffield, who have grown up in their academies, they are likely to better than what we have had in our academy over the last 6 seasons.

I'm hoping Ash might be doing a podcast soon to give us an update on what the EFL contingent that visited CFC has had to say on all matters, including the Academy.

My understanding is that the current Trust Academy, which is an excellent community asset and is also quite lucrative, is booming. Perhaps there will now be a separate CFC funded 'elite' Academy for the most talented ones, with the Trust carrying on with their great work?

We desperately need the artificial pitch on Stand Road.

Looking at the list of out of contract players this June I could see every one of them going apart from maybe Gordon. Pity about Colclough but he isn?t the same player. The others are either too old or not good enough. I wouldn?t be looking to offer Oldaker a new contract, surely we can do better.

i thought it was interesting on friday in cook's interview when he was asked about dobra signing and then was asked are you hoping to get some more of the players tied down to longer deals, he went off on a tangent initially and then talked about levels, it kinda said to me, "no i'm not, but i'm not going to publicly say that", could be wrong but otherwise i think cook would have answered 100% yes we are.

A complete mass clear out doesnt seem like a Cook sort of thing to do so while i think a lot will go I can see him hanging on to some of them. I cant see him want to sign that many in one go.

Well of that list I?d miss Colclough, Banks and Grimes. I think Williams has also done okay and Jacobs (like Grimes) unfairly maligned, but time is probably up for all of them.

I can see 5 ooc players staying (maximum). Dj, Donasien, McFadzean, Lewis Gordon and Connor Cook are my guesses.

Maybe against popular opinion but I?d offer Grimes and Banks another year, maybe Boot as second string again.
