Don't know if anybody else has suggested it but do you think there's a chance we could get 'We Are Sailing' as our walk out song for Saturday? Have it echo round the ground with over 9,000 town fans singing it before kick off?

Just an idea!

Yes lets get it sung im old enough to remember saltergate in the late 70's early 80's loved it then , not just run out song could be used any time as well and don't need the drum wich I think does a fantastic job .Don't no the drummer boy but well done and thanks for all your effort .

I think we really do need the drum. We didn't need it at Saltergate cos the sound travelled better. But without the drum, we have the East and West stand singing a song 10 seconds after the Kop (if we, for a second, imagine that both stands contributed to the sound when we played at home).
Carson Out.

Perhaps a shorter version would help in terms of getting the fans singing together

Like possibly singing the first few lines or something? Sure we could work something out

Here you go:-
"Sailing"

I am sailing, I am sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

I am flying, I am flying,
like a bird 'cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
to be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me
thro' the dark night, far away,
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.

Can you hear me, can you hear me,
thro' the dark night far away.
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.

We are sailing, we are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free.
Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free,
Oh Lord.

To be honest we'd only need the 'we are sailing' paragraph. That's what was repetitively sung at Burton and sounded amazing. If there's some way we could get that on a loop it would be brilliant.

Did it go

I am sailing, I am sailing,

I am sailing, stormy waters,

We are sailing, we are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

With the second verse everyone giving it a bit of "umph"....Seems shorter, easy to remember etc

Well it beats listening to the kop singing derogatory songs towards whoever we are playing that week.

The words are easy to remember, there is nothing to it.
You sing and repeat the following four short and simple lines...

We are sailing, we are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free
(repeat)

I'm sorry but it was great when Ernie Moss was playing for us.
We now have a new ground with a 3rd or 4th new club badge. Move with the times, let's get a new song going.
Don't get me wrong, I heard "sailing" being sung at Saltergate and I have fond memories of it but for the love of god why do we want to live in the past all the time? Use the past to build our future, stop trying to re-live it again.

And before anybody says anything about suggesting a new song. I listen to heavy metal and most of the stuff I listen to would scare the bejesus out of the young and old so don't ask me. :)
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Nah, let's stick with sailing. Sounds brilliant when everyone joins in as per Burton. I don't care why it's sung, I don't care when it was regularly sung back in the day, I don't care if it's "complacent" or "miserable", it sounds good so I like it.
