I'd start at the Rose if I were you....not that far to the tap after that and definitely a pub worth visiting.

Just thought id resurrect this thread as I found myself in the Victoria last night for a pool match.

Honestly, a pub I didn't even know existed! Decent little place, good choice of drinks and for a Monday was busy. (they had a quiz on).

Recognised a few Proact regulars huddled in one corner, too.

A pub i've always liked and been in quite a bit over the years. Beer has always been decent and the pool table\dart boards always good. Decent for watching sport as well on that big telly over the archway. It was probably just the closest pub to me when i lived on Heaton Street as well if i used the little cut through by the old peoples bungalows. That Monday night quiz must have been running years....seem to remember us sometimes doing it after playing football on a Monday night at Middlecroft and popping back there for a drink and that must be 10yrs ago!

It's not such a little pub.

The landlord (if it's still the same one) rarely cracks a smile and the beer doesn't seem very well kept to me so we usually give it a wide berth.

To be fair I've always had a decent pint of Brampton brewery beer in there in recent times.
