Even further back in the day there was another pub in between the Terminus and the Star, and a fine little pub it was. Always called the 'Bottom Pheasant', it was in a row of stone-built terraced cottages where the car park now takes up the corner of Storrs Road.
Still a long stagger to the Star, mind.

Downhill though!! ;)

When I lived down that way I used to use the Anchor, Red Lion, Prince, Barrel, Rose and Crown, 3 horse shoes and on occasion the new inn and the star (tramway now?) And of course a late weekend one in the Brad....
couldn't stand the one that used to be a kitchen appliance shop and got turned into a pub...Brampton ale house was it? cant remember its a long time ago.

The Vic is a cracking little pub. Beer is always spot on and good for watching sports.

Tramway is what was the New Inn. Red Lion wasn't even open last Friday night when we walked past.

Red Lion and Masons Arms both recently shut I think.

Was funny for about 2 months you would walk past the Masons Arms and see the same family drinking in there - presumably these were the owners!

Or The Griffin. This brings back memories of a bizarre thread started by a Wrexham fan wanting to watch TV in town. Eh HW

It always amazed me how we could leave the Grouse at 2.52 and make the kick off
RIP Steve

My local is the star but I like the peacock brit rose vic and the "ale house" that's Barlow brewery owned. Real ale corner is 30 seconds from my house too.

Star pints £2.30 with sky sports.

Used to go in the star a lot when Pete had it but it's not as good as it used to be. Went in the vic quite a bit when we lived on Heaton street, cracking pub.

Didn't they take in lodgers at one time, or B&B's? I seem to recall it as an cosy old fashioned sort of place.

Don't recall that - it was just basically a two up, two down terrace house. Bogs across the back yard, for those with an interest in architecture, and with a view of the sky.
Bit like Saltergate when you think about it.

Was in the Peacock last night and had a few in a few others Friday. Too old for Town though against my better judgement I occasionally end up there.

Brampton stopped being a decent evening out on the beers when the Brad (or Genesis as it became) shut down and was replaced by those nondescript flats

Me too, wasn't part of the building listed which the developers had to preserve in order to get planning permission but it "accidentally" got damaged during the demolition process ?

My local too, but as you said I'm more likely to go a bit further if I go out
