35 in 8 weeks time, not that matters though.

Should do a decent job for them. However, is he not another ageing has-been similar to those that Saunders got so much flack over wasting money on??

Potentially yes. However, who knows until the said individuals play and perform at a lower level when they get to a certain age (30+). If we keep SEB and Novak fit and they are up for the fight, I'm sure they can get the goals to keep us up.
Question... Which two forwards would we swap the two above names for from any of the other teams in the bottom 4? Inman, Moncur?
Our two forwards are currently 16th and 17th in the league one top scorers chart.

i think they'd be right, and I suspect Rochdale might regret signing him. Rochdale polled their fans a few seasons ago as to who was their best ever player over i guess 100 years..Holt won, as a result of 2 really good seasons. Now hes back and anything less than success will only tarnish his reputation. The Randall appointment and sacking still hurts , and after the canonisation of Jack Lester the occasional mutterings on here to bring him back as manager were another example of this daft atitude to old heroes that fans and some chairmen have... Im glad it didnt happen. Appointments based on emotional attachments never pay off. Prove me wrong Danny, please.

Inman and Moncur are both midfielders

Exactly the point I was making. We do nothing but bemoan Saunders littering our squad and chucking big wages away on the likes of SEB and Herd yet somehow Grant Holt is a positive for Dale. Beggars belief really.

The reason seems to be Andrews out for 8 weeks injured.

People are bemoaning their performances since signing. Not too many complained when they arrived and their signings were generally seen as positives. Like SEB and Herd when they came here, it has yet to be seen whether Holt will deliver or disappoint.

Holt must be an improvement on Andrew.

Some of our players have disappointed on the basis of performances and presumed wages, nothing to do with their ages. The fact that Holt is nearly 35 means knack all in terms of his ability and performance level, the chief, Lester, Ernie Moss maybe even Reevesy, all strikers who have performed well for us well into their thirties.
Time will tell how good a signing Holt turns out to be, he can certainly finish.

So what would be the reaction if DW bought Holt in?? 35 years old and played very little in the last couple of seasons. I've got no issue with the age thing, Jack Lester is my all time Chesterfield hero. I just find it amusing how we have thread after thread saying how we are tossing massive wages away ( speculation ) on players like SEB yet Rochdale have someone who ' can do a job' in Holt. How much are they paying him?? No one knows but it's not an issue because he's not our player.
How is this signing different to SEB?? Both have performed admirably at a higher level but had little football prior to their respective signings. From afar, SEB could 'do a job' yet he's been largely ineffective.

As I wrote above, if Holt disappoints, then the situations, and presumably the reactions, will be similar. If he doesn't, they won't. It's comparing apples with pears to compare opinions of SEB at Town now to opinions of Holt at Rochdale now.
Compare threads on SEB when he arrived to what fans of CFC or RFC are saying about Holt now, and they'll be similar.
And I'm talking about Grant Holt and not Olly Holt , before anyone at the club considers barring me from entry tomorrow.
