The day we took 3 sides of their ground was the day any credible argument ended..

Correct....Feb 2001....the most embarrassing day in the history of Mansfield Town FC.....oh and 1-0 to Chesterfield.....better dig out the photos; videos and paper cuttings from that astonishingly memorable event.....alongside all the others over 22 years

Re 3 sides . It was 2 ends and a hundred or so on the Bishop St stand. Haslam hated us by that time after a lot of protests about him. Crowds were down and all he wanted was the money. That was all he was ever interested in from the beginning, simple as that. We could bring 4,000 to you if you'd give us that many tickets. We had 2000 (our entire allocation) the last time we came to the Proctal on that lovely sun drenched day with the same again who couldn't get tickets.

You even admit the crap attendances you had when the going was rubbish. The same would happen if you went into the conference and there's no point even denying it. We'll see how your attendances drop next year won't we? Especially as unlike the last time when you had a far greater budget than the rest of the league, and were favourites to go up before a ball was even kicked with a new shiny ground.

The glory hunters will be long gone *Newsflash* Footie fans are fickle. That's why you see a lot of Liverpool and Man Utd shirts being worn outside the North West area- but not so many Tranmere Rovers or Bury ones.

Unless you want to argue that Chesterfield is a far greater populated and bigger town than Mansfield? It isn't- they are both roughly the same and you all know it. And that's why Chesterfield FC is no bigger or smaller than Mansfield Town FC. Anyway zzzzzz

Remember we've been down and had our bad times but we're on the way up. Now it's your turn. Starting with certain relegation this season and from there administration. That's what happens when you live outside your means and you are now going to reap what you sow. Let's see how you cope with that shall we?

And when you only used to regularly get 3k yourselves not that long ago to now try and compare yourselves with Sheffield United.. ahahahha absolutely funny as f**k.

Underhanded tricks changing the link in my last post as well from the final whistle of the last match on that sun kissed afternoon the last time we came. The internet moderation version of the brown envelopes for Beckett.
Still what else would we expect from you lot.

PS Crewe will batter you Saturday. Going down going down going down.

Presumably if you could bring 4000 fans to us then they would be akin to glory hunters as at your next home game you wouldn't get that many fans including the away support

As a one off game we'd be able to get 4,000 or thereabouts for Chesterfield away. We take 3k to Notts County so why not?

The likes of Barnet & Yeovil at home just don't have the same appeal.

Just to put things into perspective re attendances when we were in the conference Histon brought 8 fans in 2011.

That's two less than Gillingham scored against you in '87

When it came up on the old Vidiprinter on BBC1

There were barely four thousand home fans for our last 'one off' visit to Field Mill.

Which they tend to be given how rarely we're in the same division.

Infact our fans couldn't believe their eyes as they left town centre pubs only to see countless locals staying behind to watch Forest instead.

And resorting to a scoreline achieved by another club back in the Eighties?

You really are getting desperate, aren't you.

Things aren't that bad at all

I mean someone must still have that "Thank you For The 3 Points Banner" that you hung over the bridge on that lovely summers day? So no need to go to all the trouble of making a new one for later in the year

You really exceeded all expectations with that last time!!

Oh how we laughed- and still do in fact

Proper Funny as F**k.

That was a dark day in 1987 losing 10-0. You obviously remember it well. I suppose you've had little else to remember fondly in the last 29 years so cling onto it tightly won't you.

Seeing as you took us back to 1987, have a guess who beat you both home and away and, yes you've guessed it, finished above you in the table. Go on Wooly, have a guess. It's fairly obvious when you think about it.

Swings & Roundabouts Valley Blues

As I posted earlier in the thread we all but relegated you just 2 years later in 89. We also beat you at home that year i think in the cup- it was a tuesday night match. Bit of aggro outside the ground and down at the bus station. I think you beat us in the league a few days later? I remember going to saltergate twice within a week and won 1 lost 1. Would have to check the exact details- or maybe someone else can?

You seem keen on nostalgia, well research and produce press clippings for the following Dec.15 1976 and bearing in mind you mention our "Brown Envelope" days (something the good people of Chesterfield, put right, by the way) how about the Gould, Phillips and dear old Sammy Chapman saga, circa '64
Good luck

Here's the press from the Saltergate fixture from Chesterfield v Stags, 25 Jan 87, Division 3

(note the attendance of 4,080)

Yeah the match fixing always gets brought up as a way of minimising CFC's disgrace, but i have to tell you that the fixing of matches in no way helped MTFC to have an unfair advantage in league standings whatsoever.

anyways it's all water under the bridge now. Speaking of bridges- you must still have that banner tho? :windup
