I'll give credit to a scab fan for providing memorable hilarity. Returning from feel ill (early 70s) on the upper deck of an East Midlands bus a scablet had climbed onto the top of a bus shelter, hurled what looked like a golf ball at the bus window, but hit the framework resulting in the ball rebounding and hitting him in the kisser, as we moved away the view of the falling scab was, well, you shouldn't laugh, but!

Y'know, it seems to me our little neighbours view us pretty much as we see Wednesday.

Now a few years ago we beat them, one-nil, leading to scenes of celebration amongst our fans and a great deal of mockery of our larger local rivals.

However when we ended that season in a lower division than them we realised just how small and pathetic constantly celebrating just one rare, meaningless victory would make us appear so moved on.

Clearly Mansfield's small band of followers are unable to do that.

PS: the final word must surely go to a certain Samuel Clucas, who not only made it abundantly obvious how badly he wanted a move to Town when we declared an interest, snubbing all manner of overtures from our little neighbours, but then described us as the 'Barcelona of L2'. Mind you, after a three sided Field Mill, non league standard facilities and laughable crowds, maybe that's not quite the compliment it could be...

Another Bertie Big Ballack post. You aren't any bigger at all really. Our fortunes have contrasted over the last decade it's true - we had the misery of Haslam and non league - and you got away with cheating your way to the title with brown envelopes and got a new ground- but parity will be resumed shortly.

In a few more weeks we'll be able to stick the fork in your permanently over inflated egos and say that you're done. Cos there's no way you are staying up this season.

A period of time in the conference would be long overdue punishment for cheating the whole league and character building. And then we'd see how big your crowds are.

Roll on August the new season I say, and long hot summer days.

You and Luke come out with exactly the same meaningless platitudes. We'll stick to facts and you stick with your fantasies.

Last decade? Were you born the last time you actually finished above us in the league?

Rumour has it that there is nothing wrong with that condemned fourth stand at Field Mill. After all, it's in no worse condition than 90% of the properties being used as homes throughout the shanty town.

Apparently they closed the stand so in future they only have to give the Spireites two thirds of their ground rather than three quarters. I mean, that would be embarrassing wouldn't it.

I don't think anyone is taking them too seriously. They are quite clearly the only two members of their small fan base capable of a coherent sentence and they have managed to obtain the town brain cell. Even after all this, them engaging us in football discussion is similar to myself striking up a conversation on Theoretical Cosmology with Stephen Hawking.

Our footballing times are tough at the moment. But still, it could be worse. We could be Wooly or Luke.

At least the historical texts he's providing aren't discriminatory or offensive in any way... and they're also factual, unlike the aincent book he lives his life by.
