Chris Turner still held in high regard at #swfc. #Chesterfieldfc's CEO joins me to discuss the new season on @sheffieldlive TV Thursday 7pm

For my sins I'm listening to it while watching the cricket.

Why would a Sheffield TV station want to discuss Chesterfield FC anyway?

I don't think he's done what he did on the radio after that FA enquiry at least.

In fairness to Turner he spoke fairly well and gave some suitably vague answers to questions about Ched Evans.

To save folk the bother it's simply a case of a sympathetic journalist offering a mate opportunities to peddle the same old spin and clichés.

Nowt we haven't heard before.

Interestingly Turner did seem sensitive to social media and made a sideways reference to this forum: 'If I discuss our players on here (Biggs' show) people accuse me of trying to move them on!'.

I like to slag him off when appropriate so yeah, he performed reasonably as an employee of Chesterfield FC.

He wasn't 'refreshed', he didn't say anything legally dubious nor insult the fanbase.

I do have low standards for him admittedly.

So, to put the record straight.

The CFC Media Manager, Nick Johnson, along with members of his immediate family, have invested in a property on Saltergate.

This property is perfect to house a number of Mark Smith's academy lads in exactly the environment they need, both as young men beginning a career in the game and legally.

I know this because I took the time to speak to Nick who, beyond the call of duty, was happy to show me around and explain exactly how the deal came about.

I like to think I'm a reasonable judge of character, body language and demeanour, and from that point of view I'm comfortable that Nick Johnson is on the level.

Everything I've heard of Mark Smith tells me he wouldn't be involved in any skulduggery, either.

There's a great deal to be critical of at the moment, but as far as I'm concerned this is a win-win for the Club and it's youngsters.

And if the Johnson family get a modest drink out of it then fine, let's live in the real world.

Besides, as I rumoured a couple of months ago there's no guarantee that the Academy will be continued after this season, so they might be left with nothing more than a 'Fawlty Towers' on their hands.

Move on folks, there's nothing to see, here...

Moondog,

Did you have any luck getting answers to the following questions:

1) Mindful of CT's resignation from both CFC Football Development School & CFC International Academy, can you confirm what his current shareholding is in both businesses, please?

2) It appears that the DC's financial pressures have eased, at least publicly. Mindful of the annual trend in terms of the business being loss making and that it's fair to assume the business has not traded its way out of trouble in such a short space of time, who has provided the additional funding to pay off some of the monies owed?

3) If funding has been injected, which business has received it, CFC Football Development School (the one showing a deficit of £78K on its balance sheet) or CFC International Football Academy Ltd?

I'm waiting for AC to get back to me regarding my request to meet up, will chase this up.

I think these questions are in the "what can the club to win fans over" thread, which I'm using as the basis of the meeting with a view to getting his thoughts on fan proposals and answers to questions
