Thought it could have been a different game had Salop taken a couple of their chances but your lot were clinical, thought Novak and Ariyibi were superb. Reckon Danny Wilson is the right appointment?

Agree with that, it didn't seem real at the time, and it still doesn't I do think the role of luck in games is often underestimated. Yes last season's team was decimated, and it was always going to be a struggle this season, but quite a few of those games we lost could have gone the other way if we'd had a stroke of luck. In the Shrewsbury game luck turned in our favour; they never looked the same after their enforced substitutions, and IMO both penalties were very soft, certainly much more innocuous challenges than 5 or 6 we've been denied in previous games. Having said that, our energy levels and finishing were excellent, and nobody can quibble at a 7-1 win. Probably the best thing to come out of it, apart from 3 vital points, is the increased confidence which hopefully will see a general improvement in results from now on.

I watched that in the Hunloke Arms as was on Derby Road when a friend of ours ran it. I laughed quite loudly and said something along the lines of it couldnt happen to a better person only for the table next to us be a family with young kids who were Mansfield fans...young daughter started crying and they didnt look best pleased with me.

Isn't that a form of child abuse?
No, not making a little girl cry, but the parents introducing them to MTFC in the first place.

I disagree - even if we lose tomorrow we still got 3 points from the Shrews game so are 2/3 points better off than had we not won. Are you suggesting that unless you follow up a win with a positive result the win was pointless?

We have the joint most losses in the league reflecting the fact that we have probably the most unsettled defence. This is the key area and it must continue the consistency shown in the last 2 matches otherwise Danny will have to better his overall career success record in order to keep us up. We are approaching the stage where we will have to win most of our home matches. In my opinion then, the performance of the current CB pairing is crucial, starting today.

It means 3 points, ending the dismal run and a confidence boost which in itself will help us gain additional points in future games as the run is broken, players will be less anxious and they should play with more freedom.

But not the keeper, the full backs, the defensive midfielders, the attacking midfielders and the strikers (keeping the ball at the other end of the pitch) then?

Win 6 Draw 5 Lose 10
Win 5 Draw 8 Lose 8

Have they changed the rules then, or is it still three point for a win, one for a draw and one for a loss. 7-1 is three points. 1-0 is three points. A single 7-1 win in a season isn't going to keep us up if we keep losing games we should draw and drawing games we should be winning.
I'd trade a 1-0 win with the goal coming from a first minute goalmouth scramble and parking the bus for the next 89 minutes followed by a 0-0 draw with no shots on target over a 7-1 win and an "exciting" 5-4 defeat the next game. As would any genuine supporter. A big win is ephermeral. It's what the league table says at the end of the season that matters in the long run.
