I probably wouldn't have bothered normally but after Saturday I think i'll make one, after the performance think the players deserve my effort next week, anyone else feel the same?

Went in the JPT and it was horrendous but have a feeling things might be a little better this time around.

I think 600 would be a very good following to be honest with Wigan away the week after, a game where will probably have 1000 going. Know a few who will only do one of the two and Wigan is a much better day out.

Just a note for Wigan away - car parking and getting out of the town is abysmal. Train station/service is awful and I would strongly advise to use coach travel.

No it isn't bad on the train at all. Lived there for 6 months and there's 2 big-ish train stations with with connections to Manchester/Leeds for homweard journeys regualrly. Used to travel from Wigan to Manchester for work every day (where most town fans will change on the train). Stations are both bang opposite eachother and right in the town centre with plenty of boozers around. 15 minute walk to the ground from either station.

There are 2 massive retail parks around the ground and plenty of town centre parking thta is all walkable too. Closer you park to the ground, longer it will be to get away but it's nowhere near as bad as the likes of Wycombe, Chester etc with 1 road in 1 road out.

Those on the train, get a group saver to Manchester £36 between 4 of you then a Manchester to Wigan return (less than a tenner I think) so a cheap day out. Can also do the same group saver for Rochdale Saturday and jump on the Metrolink or Northern Rail Service from around Manchester Vic up to Rochdale for a few quid.

Well I've delivered in Wigan for the past 30 odd years on a weekly basis; do rugby league weekly in the season and the nearer you get to the retail park the worse it is. If you are happy with a 15/20 minute walk to your car or the equivalent crawl through traffic knock yourself out and be my guest. Just tryin to be helpful for those that arn't aware of it's Bunkum location. Th station my friend is as you say an equivalent walk but have you considered the rail network and the current weather. Pubs don't really have a bearing on owt.

Pubs have a bearing on those on the train. A 15 minute probably isn't dissimilar to what most do for home games with parking etc.

Trains are running fine currently, only terminations are north of Carlisle as you would expect (some at Preston for services bound for Scotland). Anyone travelling by train should be fine. Agree the parking closer to the stadium isn't great. but name me somewhere that is of that sort of size.

The only bad thing about Rochdale is the lack of a pub, but their social club bar is great. If you don't act the idiot they are happy to let you in.

Their MP might even send you a text.

How do you get these Group Savers? Is it something you can sort in advance or only on the day? They don't advertise them seemingly at all.

you ask for them at town station. think you can get them in advance. when we went to bury there was 10 of us & we got 2 x 5 tickets (worked out at £13.50 each).
Manchester to Rochdale or wigan the duo tickets are a good option.

like everything good about the railway they like to keep it a secret

Thanks for that. I love a trip on the train. Don't think I've done so for a Town game since Doncaster last season but with our self-imposed away ban now lifted it could be a good one.

I have seen Town at Wigan before but it was so long ago Jon Howard scored the winner. It was a night match and so I failed to see Wigan itself in all its glory.

glory may be stretching it slightly but wigan is a fine day out.

I can recall us playing in red. I thought 1-0 but on reflection it may have been 1-1 but Howard definitely scored close in. We were sat on the side and I think there was only that side and the end to our right open. But it was a long time ago.

I've got a feeling Wigan is my sort of place. I imagine cheer beer, easy woman and top notch pork pies.

Probably got it down to a T. There's a bakery opposite station that did absolutely class pies and mash (or pea wet if you prefer)

Will be a good one on the train for sure, not a bad town centre.

It was 1-1 but I thought Howard had scored a decent goal that night. Probably wrong. The coach got lost on the way home and added over an hour to our journey , I had to be up at 5 for work so the memory of that night is a bit scrambled. The next day was loooong.
