I don't think it's really fair to dismiss those questioning the quality of our football as 'just Saunders haters'.

It could equally be claimed some of the more enthusiastic accounts over recent months have come from 'just establishment apologists'.

The last two managers delivered some of the most fluent, attacking and entertaining football ever witnessed from Town sides but the current one favours a different approach.

A 'sitting-off' four-four-two entices the opposition forward then tries to hit on the break via direct balls down the channels.

Sometimes it's worked, sometimes it hasn't.

Surely whether folk are excited by it or not is in 'the eye of the beholder', though.

Well I'm not saunders' biggest fan and much prefer cooks and sheridans type of attacking football but to be critical of last nights 4-1 win is embarrassing.

Give me the incisive 2nd goal every time over the pass pass pass football of the past

I take you point and I have no problem with that. The problem I have (not just last night, this is a season long thing) is that we devoid of ideas and even any semblance of how to play the game out. I wouldn't have cared if we hadn't have made another chance all night after doing so well to get into the commanding position that we had after only ten minutes... Though at least control the game; that wasn't controlled that was FCUM not having anything worthwhile to test us imo. It certainly would have been interesting if we didn't take one or both of the early goals OR they'd pulled one back.. I wonder how much of being in control we would have seen then? To me it wasn't there, to others we were in total control, a matter of opinions I suppose. I'm more than happy with the result, just not impressed with the performance other than the first ten.

This is why we miss Jimmy Ryan. Morsy can't do it all on his own, and from what iv'e seen at home Herd has a long way to go yet, he has too many mis-placed passes in his game.

Herd is improving, but he's got a long way to go to catch up with Jimmy Ryan, and it shows in our performances, though less with each passing game.
Amazing when you think Herd was a Championship midfielder, whilst Ryan is playing for a L1 team with relegation written all over them.
Funny old game.

We obviously lack the fluidity in midfield that we had with Roberts and Ryan. Difficult players to replace with equal quality perhaps and we could well require another signing in that dept, even if Morsy sees the season out here. Not sure if O'Neil was supposed to add that but he hasn't shown up well so far, so maybe DS has slipped up there. Drew did some good stuff but played some loose passes too, it remains to be seen whether he will regain his old form though he is clearly doing much better now. See that alcock, the Sheff utd RB who played really well at the proact last season, has gone on loan to Doncaster.

There was nothing wrong with last night's performance. We did a job only down point was letting a goal in they didn't deserve. Should have had a pen and won 5 nil.

It was a poor goal to concede because, amazingly, nobody even challenged the scorer for the cross but thankfully it was of no consequence to the result.

Agreed, it wasn't as if we had no defenders back, there must have been at least 6 of our players plus Tommy and nobody challenged. Ok the game had been won for ages by then and we never got out of first gear, but I hope we're sharper on Saturday.

Including three centre halves.
