Guess they wanted a spineless Notts County style performance so they could harp on about Saunders losing the dressing room

Not at all, though the difference was that we were fortunate that we played FCUM and not Salford; could have been a very different story otherwise. They had nothing, whereas Salford had a lot to offer all over the park. Anyway, we'll take another look at how we are shaping up on Saturday. I've not seeing much to convince me this season tbf.

Herd ain't no midfielder, that could be one reason, we looked better once Banks came on

He keeps giving the ball away to start with and that's not helping what I keep banging on about (us having next to nothing in midfield).

Up to then you could here the obscene language most of the second half and the commentator had to apologise on numerous occasions.

I guess it just got worse and they just had to do something about it or they would've had complaints. It happens in the premiership all the time, it's just a bit easier to do with crowds of 50,000

Actually I thought BT gave their cause a lot of exposure, far too much actually

For the last 5 mins or more they really rampt up the volume on the fk off bt song .....which is possibly why bt felt the need to drown them out
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

No, keep hold of the ball a bit so as not to invite any pressure. Not a lot to ask really

Put it like this, if we had have played Salford it could have been a very different story. Let's face it they had nothing to give, and that wasn't just down to us... They seriously had nothing! So let's not get too carried away here.
Plus they actually did get the ball down and play a little, something that we couldn't manage, though it probably had something to do with the wind

karl i wasnt aiming my post at anyone in particular - but it was like holding a midgets at arms length and every now and then kicking them in the knackers. we got to rest sammy morsy and won easily. man utd are **** most weeks. we're a league one side. we looked it. and they looked well below us.

I agree we are a league one side, but not a cheap one.. this is supposed to be our highest ever wage budget for a CFC team; there must have been a hell of a lot wasted if that's the case! They can barely pass a football to each other!! We've got an end product, that's all that's keeping us in games as football wise we are second best to most teams.

it was an easy win thats it. the conditions meant that it wasnt ever going to be a tippy tappy game.

Only because they were poor. Even with this they still shared possession, had more shots (including on target) and three times as many corners. Yes, goals win games and you are right it was never in doubt with the early goals, though it wasn't a professional performance. The stats back up what my eyes told me ;) Salford would have given us hell, FCUM had very little, but still match us on every stat other than the one that counts; given another team with more quality and that could have been a very different night.. that's my gripe as I didn't see a professional controlled display from our lads, I saw a display where the quality from one side and the lack of from another decided the game, nothing professional about it.

Anyway, as you say job done and you've got to be happy with the result even if not with the manor of it and a home draw (you've got to be happy with that) regardless of who you've got; and let's hope that I've got us wrong and we are on the up. Midfield is still bugging me like mad though  and on that note, I'm off to bed (no doubt you'll be glad to hear ;) )

PS Still looking forwards to Saturday and seeing something from our midfield :D

I didn't bother recording it so will miss the fake noise. Their fans were decent last ten minutes, I'll give them that.

Dunno who stayed out 1st half as it didn't seem fuller afterwards. In fact gate was 1400 below capacity.

Men against boys. Simple.
As Saunders rightly said, we have much better players than them. We should win. Only a wrong attitude would really prevent it.
He was right.
Our attitude was spot on from the start. The game was over after 11 minutes.
We did exactly what we should have done. Nothing spectacular and no sign at all of an upset.
Move on.

Shocking draw for next round though!

Not really. We're at home. That's a start. First home cup draw in eight is it?

Maybe some of the boycotters didn't bother going in for the 2nd half and just went to the pub to watch it. That corner section in the home end never really filled up

Certainly the supportive tone changed distinctly in the 2nd half, so a few must've come in

In theory, that's a start. With our home record this year, is it though?
I reckon it's in the top 5 worst draws we could have had.

I wouldn't have put in my top 20 personally.

I wouldn't be inclined to go back on that flat away end. Much better when we got a seat in the second half.

I feel a bit sorry for them, arguably their biggest night in their history and their team was a shambles and so was their protest

It was funny when they scored though because the fake crowd noise was a bit obvious, mind you I guess any neutral had long switched off by then

Perhaps Notts were so sh*t they made Salford look good. We thrashed what was in front of us & were comfortable the whole game, never needing to get out of 2nd gear once we got the 2 early goals. Thoroughly satisfactory night.

Salford were made to look good by a shambloic county. We'd have beaten Salford

Lol never looked troubled and won with ease scoring 4 goals. Job done. No injuries. What's your problem?
