I thought we played well until we scored the second goal, then we just strolled around the park like a team of "Billy big bo**ocks". We let them come at us when we should've embarrassed the hell out of them.
Oshea was woeful.
Jones was motm.
Novak did OK, took his goal superbly.
Everybody else just did what they had to.

Conclusion is: we won, but we could do a lot better.

Pretty much the way I saw it too. Big praise for us not doing a Notts as I'd feared; though after the first ten minutes it was a dull as dish-water. We still have no midfield for me (we still could have knocked the ball about, kept possession and done sod all... that's a professional job imo) and I'm still waiting to see what the fuss is about with Herd.
Apart from the negatives and boring game to watch despite the 4-1 scoreline, we are in with a shout of round three and that's a big positive as it was a tricky away tie in front of noisy homes fans, though imo we've got to be a lot better than that, and that goes for Saturday as well. I agree with Bonnyman, that wasn't good too watch and that's nothing to do with wanting the manager out, that's to do with enjoying my football and that wasn't enjoyable!

I didn't think so watching it live on TV mate, but the replay shows the defender nowhere near the ball and having a bit of our guy. Softish maybe, but still a penalty imo after seeing it for a second time.

Very happy with that indeed, pity we let that one in at the end though

Well I bet on us to win with both sides scoring so I wasn't too miffed!

On TV that was a nailed-on penalty, if it had happened in the middle of the park it would have been a free kick. I wonder how long we can go this season without being awarded a penalty.....

The benefit of TV i guess, live and at the game you only get 1 view and only once

I don't need to see them again David.. Blake is really strong and does fantastically well to make the first. Jones quality cross and an even better finish from Novak (loved that goal, quality), third was a lovely ball from Morsy as the game was starting to open up with them having to push on; Simons couldn't get the ball anything like under control (couple of terrible touches), though he actually saved his only good touch for the one that counted (though better teams wouldn't have let him get the shot in after two poor touches/ controls) and the final goal was a good strike from Banks that took a wicked bounce off the turf to deceive their keepers outstretched arms.

Thought we started well enough and the game was won early. Understandably we didn't feel the need to kill them after that and it was pretty much a stroll.

Job well done.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't have given it after seeing it the first time around and was very surprised how different it looked after the second viewing.

Shame about the fake crowd noise for the last five minutes!

You noticed that too?

Laughable, utterly laughable. Just like the constant cut-aways whilst the game was going on. Amateur BT.

As for the game...>pffffft<. Well we got the job done in third gear, for the most part. Ten minutes of pressing and tempo - capped-off by a quality finish from Novak - but then we seemed to get sloppy. The same flat-footed and pedestrian football witnessed early in the season leading to far too many long, aimless punts. I couldn't understand why Ariyibi didn't keep running at their LB, either. He left him for dead at least twice at the start so why not exploit that fact? Then whilst Herd might've been MOTM on Saturday he did little to impress tonight.

On the positive side I like the look of Wood who alongside Evatt stood head and shoulders above anything the part-timers had to offer - literally and metaphorically. Morsy advertised what a genuine talent he is, Jones enjoyed himself, O'Shea too, and Talbot cruised through ninety minutes.

Then once the third went in and we started changing formations it became very pre-season-esque. But hey, credit to the players and, yes, the Manager for making it such a comfortable progression.

PS: FCUM benefitted from a sympathetic ref who bottled awarding a pen and probably sending the man off when O'Shea was brought down, then bottled what would've been another 'last man' red card when Simons was fouled late on.

PPS: there's something incredibly pious, self congratulatory and hypocritical about the FCUM's fans' supposed protests. Infact will those who stayed out until the second half F C U K off and form another club 'cos their current one took the TV shilling? Will they refuse any further promotions as that'd mean conforming with more commercial accommodations? Nah, will they F C U K.

I can understand that mate, though a stroll in my book is keeping possession even if we did sod all with it. Why can't our midfield do this, even at two up against poor non league opposition??

Up to then you could here the obscene language most of the second half and the commentator had to apologise on numerous occasions.

I guess it just got worse and they just had to do something about it or they would've had complaints. It happens in the premiership all the time, it's just a bit easier to do with crowds of 50,000

Actually I thought BT gave their cause a lot of exposure, far too much actually

Guess they wanted a spineless Notts County style performance so they could harp on about Saunders losing the dressing room

No, keep hold of the ball a bit so as not to invite any pressure. Not a lot to ask really

Put it like this, if we had have played Salford it could have been a very different story. Let's face it they had nothing to give, and that wasn't just down to us... They seriously had nothing! So let's not get too carried away here.
Plus they actually did get the ball down and play a little, something that we couldn't manage, though it probably had something to do with the wind

Herd ain't no midfielder, that could be one reason, we looked better once Banks came on
