Who has lost out on a good day?

The few hundred who fancied a Saturday in Manchester and a traditional FA Cup tie.

Will be half the atmosphere on a night game as it won't be much of a day out as everyone will be rushing about from work rather than enjoying a day out.

The whole acceptance of it all on here is probably why modern football is so screwed really. People seem rather chilled out about Monday night games on tv, crap atmospheres, silly ticket prices (not at FC), an out of touch money grabbing governing body etc which is why it will continue I guess and why most on hear still attend fairly regularly, unlike myself. Guess we all have different views and i've fallen out with football a little in recent years as the game I started to enjoy when I was a kid. But that's a whole different debate for another thread I saw on here last week..

Not sure how an evening game means a lesser atmosphere, we have had many a great atmosphere on Tuesday evenings under the floodlights. A full house on a Monday night with the TV cameras at the ground will be just as good as a Saturday. It is hardly the Premiership is it? Its cup football, and its got a cup game atmosphere.

Ashley what are the chance of the club coming out with a statement in support of the FC United one? Their statement and offer to fans is class, and a real swipe at the FA and the TV culture - which I fully agree with.

Whilst the FA rule does seem insane - it prevents a club refusing an 'invitation' to televise a match - it's there to protect the away team. FCUM seem willing to forego their £67.5k. Surely they and you don't expect CFC to do the same?.

I rushed back from London for an Evening game once even though it was being televised and I was actually more excited than normal specially as I had two hours of thinking about the game.

I can't remember the opponents but it was a magnificent 5:0 Win.

I'd bet my life the atmosphere on the away end after a day on train on the lash in Manchester would be a lot better than it would be on a Monday night when everyone's come from work!

CFC will no way do that. DA's already got the 60k tucked under his bed I imagine.

When/if FCUM pass on their £67.5K to a charitable cause I will applaud their stance even louder.

Until then it could've been just posturing as they know the rules, although they ran the risk that BT could have just said fcum, we'll find another tie I suppose

Must admit the I actually agree with their attitude towards televised games, lots of people do that are effected. You could guarantee if the tie had been at Chesterfield and had been moved there'd be loads of moans oh here

I am also happy the FA overruled them in this case.

Nice touch about the voucher although it smacks a bit of PR (but good PR)

AS far as CFC doing something, lets face it travel costs aren't anymore expensive on a Saturday than they are on a Monday night. I also think CFC would have to agree to the £10 price anyway, so they have done something

Travel costs may not be higher if going by coach or car but it is certainly will take a lot longer to get there on a Monday night through rush hour traffic. I would have thought a train would be more expensive.

Are you serious???

I remember every bit of it but it was a tongue in cheek, sarcastic, humorous response without referring to them as I might be misconstrued as being OBSESSED by them when I am clearly not......

Read the statement instead of nit picking or don't even bother contributing please.

The stance is about the principles of the games being moved affecting match going fans to satisfy supporters who 99% of which won't care about either side.

Also there token gestures of the voucher and calls for BT to subsidise our travel are also posturing but nice at the same time.

It's about time a club publically took a stance against the FA and their disregard for the match going fans so I think they deserve backing up as if nobody takes a stand then things will only get worse..

Were they kicking up as much of a fuss when many of the fans were watching Man U win loads of trophies financed in a big way by the TV money and they only got the monk on when the yank bought them. I agree that some of the kick off times are a pain in the backside but if you are going to not play ball with the TV companies and allow the money from them to come into the game you have to be willing to pick up the tab when you are wanting clubs to invest in better players etc.

In this case for what its worth its been done in plenty of time before tickets go on sale, folk have all the information to make their own minds up as to whether they want to go on a Monday night or not...no one will be forcing anyone to go.

I've seen many a time when its done at the last minute and thats when its wrong....for example Sunderland fans a few years ago buying tickets and arranging travel to Portsmouth for a Saturday 3pm kick off a couple of weeks after already doing the same trip for an FA Cup game only for it later to be moved to 8pm Monday night for a nice 700 mile round trip and many left with useless non refundable train travel. I seem to remember Niall Quinn, chairman at the time, not being happy at all about it and calling for changes to stop it happening.

I have read it.
Do you think they consulted CFC about the risk of losing TV money before issuing the statement?. Do you think Ashley would have said well done if they had succeeded in getting nobody to screen it?. Hardly nit picking.

The other side of this as well.....the £68,700 payment could potentially fund a £5k a week player for a 93 day emergency loan if the club wanted to do so. Are folk going to be as admiring about the FCUM stance if we lose out on said player to another club because we lost out on the money due to FCUM trying to kick up a fuss about things and stopping the game being on telly.

Not saying the money will go towards a loan player but its a possibility.

stupid comment

it's great this game is on TV - means more of our fans can watch (and I might even find a bar with it on in Lithuania!)

FCUM statement is pathetic attention seeking and nothing more

The most recent statement I agree. Why refuse something they knew full well they couldn't if it wasn't to stimulate exactly that statement?

Personally I'm glad it's on the tele and we are getting some money out of it. All the posturing in the world folk do doesn't help club finances like a TV game will. This could be the difference between bringing in a loan player at some point or not. I think a reality check about what is and isn't actually important might be required.

Nice gesture to hand back money though isn't it, potentially £4K, not a trifle at that level

They are having a protest apparently, best protest would be to pass on the TV money to a deserving cause, unlikely, but it would be funny as hell. It would shut some folk up

Is it a nice gesture or a clever way to make additional income, everything in their kiosks will cost more than £1 so many people will probably want to use their voucher and end up spending more money in their kiosks on food and drinks
