not as many as there was pre-football ground though, certainly bucking local/national trend I'd say

I wonder if Mr Allen mentions that at all when negotiating his CBC debt??

He had before, and their response was along the lines of "what about all the business' that are struggling in the saltergate area" iirc

A perfectly valid retort too. Linda's fights on though somehow.

valid in what way? which business' on saltergate have closed as a result of cfc moving? I walked down there a few weeks ago and I don't recall seeing any boarded up shop windows. in fact, I think the area has improved since cfc moved (west bars aside) so in that respect I would say that both saltergate and whit moor have benefited from relocating. Linda's sandwich shop obviously didn't rely solely on a couple of busy hours every other Saturday afternoon in the winter.

Is 3000 people on saltergate more or less beneficial than 6000 on the Moor? I'd say chesterfield has benefited as a whole.
Here we go again!

If the council said it and it's based on facts then it's valid.

I'd take their official stance over something made up on a messageboard by someone with no credentials whatsoever.

Ironically the only thing to have closed/downsized on Saltergate is the council office...hardly CFC's fault.

Since moving I'd call the Beer Parlour a pub so the number on the Moor will return to number it was the when the last closed (Victoria I would think).

Isnt the chesterfield ale house on the west bars roundabout your local west bars? Decent little boozer IMO

I moved about four years ago but I've been in a time or two and it's alright.

There's not really any decent pubs on the moor, except maybe the Beer Parlour but that's a bit tiny. These days I want to go somewhere and have a decent pint not 1990's selection of Carling/Fosters/Smiths/Strongbow repeated 3 times down the bar. Luckily there's plenty of good boozers elsewhere in Chesterfield. We're spoilt round here for micro-breweries and good hand-pulled

I've never been a fan of the Derby Tup personally but I assume the new landlord has done a decent job since taking over?

I forgot about that one at the time. They do decent ale. It is a bit dark and dingy in there though. I've never been a massive fan of pubs where you feel you're intruding into someones front room

There's always been one in the back room...you just need to remember to bring your telescope to be able to view it.

It's another business though. And actually as the upstairs has been converted into three separate flats it's probably generating more tax income than previously.
