Cook could be all the negativity -and speculation to help the club achieve their dream with one simple statement. "Im not going to Portsmouth or anywhere else any time soon. I'm committed to Chesterfield and I'm going to finish the job I've started. Together lets get our club promoted"

I take your point, Ernie x3, but it's not for us to put words into the guy's mouth is it. Plus, I believe, in his own way, he's actually SAID what we want to hear ..... "and long may it continue". We can't expect him to say exactly what we want to hear and anyway, what he DID say is enough, in my opinion, because the way he said it doesn't give it any more credence than what it deserves .... He was right to be dismissive by not saying anymore.

I think thats quite naive. His response was the very definition of keeping his options open.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

It's nothing of the kind .... What is happening here, is that folks are not listening to what PC has actually SAID, but instead are speculating about what he DIDN'T say !

..... How daft is THAT ????

There's too much negativity on here.
PC has made mention of this in the past.
He is our manager at present and the comments he has made have been mentioned previously.

Get behind him, everyone should be giving him their full support. He has done wonders for us. If after that he decides to go then we can all say we gave him our full support.

I do feel that some at present are not helping the situation.

Well, given there are four main political parties at the moment all trying to convince people to vote for them on the back of what they haven't said, I would think what someone doesn't say is just as relevant.

How are some not helping? Picketing outside the ground? Throwing eggs at Cook as he gets in his car?
Don't be ridiculous, it's a message board/forum not the training ground or boardroom
A new hope.

May be but if I was PC looking at all the negative comments on here, it would not make me feel great.

Cook knows the score, he has been in the game a long time. He knows fans and the mentality around it. The quote the man himself - that's football

The negative comments are mainly due to the fact that we don't want to lose him as our manager.

Tell him not to look at the Pompey messageboard then.

The more this drags on, the more I am convinced this isn't about Pompey.

If it was, and Cook wanted to go there he could have instructed his agent to "informally" sort out T+C, say nothing to anyone and then resign once the season was over, citing CFC budgets as the reason. Job done. Pompey the same, say nothing, wait for Cook to finish here and that's that.

A new hope.

An interesting comment on Radio Solent this morning. They played a snatch of an interview with Andy Awford, recently sacked Pompey manager, who is obviously still feeling aggrieved. Said he felt he felt should have been given more time, but he was sacked because the target was a top six finish this season. Rather tellingly, he then said he was never told that was the target and if he had been he wouldn't have taken the job (he was previously head of development or something similar and had a good reputation within the Club). An interesting management style by the board, and perhaps something Mr. Cook should weigh up.
