Can I bring up relocation for anyone moving, don't know if he is a married guy with family or not but I would think that 2nd in command anywhere is less than a managerial post. Then there is the consideration to stay with PC for what lies ahead as I think will get a crack at a good championship side.

Yes he is, with two young kids living in Leeds (his home city) so I don't think he'd automatically leave, he also signed an extended contract same time as Cook with I expect the same pro rata buy out clause

Given the reasons for PC’s ‘unrest’, would expectations here be so high? Sure there will be comparisons but there would be comparisons to anyone who took over. There are no guarantees of success at Pompey and location wise it may no appeal to members of the backroom team.

If Richardson has any ambition of being a football manger he wouldn’t get a better opportunity than here. If he wasn’t up for the challenge he wouldn’t deserve the job.

It might make a convenient appointment for all parties, but not the correct one in my opinion.

Success on the pitch aside, I think the majority of the fanbase have warmed to Cook because of the way he conducts himself. A bit of a lad with an outgoing, enthusiastic personality, a totally different style to John Sheridan. He's accessible & willing to integrate with supporters and he expects the same of his players.

Now if you take Cook's traits as an individual & compare them to Richardson's, they are totally different people & that's why the partnership has proved successful to date.

I'm sure that if the Board could make a carbon copy of Paul Cook, with a couple of amendments, they probably would. When you start thinking about the ethos & culture here now and then start to think about a suitable replacement, it might be best for all concerned if the differences could be sorted out, no matter how late in the day it is.

With the rumour of Pompey having to find funds to buy Cook out you would think buying Richardson out would not be welcome. Resignation being the only way out in that case.
God I hate this league.

he'd have to buy out his contract if he resigned to take another job

I would imagine Cook would take his team with him.

Could they afford them, would they have to pay current staff up - getting quite expensive this approach.
God I hate this league.

If they are scratting around for cash for the buy out of PC's contract, I can't help but think it Cook and Cook alone they want as they won't be able to afford the whole backroom staff. Also, how much will he have budget wise if a 'big club/sleeping giant/big fan base' of a club can't muster up a measly (rumoured) £250K to actually get their man? I dare say a portion of Portsmouth's playing budget could go on securing PC's sevices

Could PC's ambitions be too great even for Pompey?

If he can't have free reign, a particular back room setup and the wage bill to get the players he'll have the same frustrations there as he has here

Straw grasping going on I think. Get it over with cfc if he's going do it lets all focus on the future.

I'm an optimist :)

I agree, if PC can't/won't commit Allen/Turner should sit down with him tomorrow and sort it out

Do you think there is much chance of that?
A new hope.

When the news broke, I thought we should do everything we can to stop him but now I'm not sure.
The whole thing has the potential to spread through the club like poison and could de-rail the whole play-off experience before it's even started.
DA has to show strong and decisive leadership for me now

well, until either a club shows the colour of their money, or Cook hands in his notice their isn't very much DA can do.
A new hope.

based on absolutely nothing, it would not surprise me if ...(IF) Paul Cook was to leave, the club were to make an approach for a manager who has continued to overachieve at a club with players on budget wages, with low support. Getting the very best out of players on a shoestring. Not too dissimilar to Cook I guess.

Just watching the programme about him on Sky.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would be a great fit I think. Seems very driven but I doubt he'd be motivated by the extra £££ in his own pocket here.

There will be no shortage of candidates if Cook were to depart.
If only....
