A defeat, three draws and two penalty shoot out wins will do it.

As least our excellent football and playing style will get some of the coverage it's deserves and has been lacking this season. Just hope it's 3 live games not 2!!

I hope it's CFC v SUFC in the final. I really fancy our chances in these PO's we've nothing to fear and even less to lose.

Let's give it a damn good go, and what will be, will be.

I don't think I could take 1 pen shoot out let alone 2.

It's nice to read threads to do with on the pitch matters this evening btw
Here we go again!

Cook is undoubtedly doing well, we all agree on that.

He has brought the Spireites to the level they are playing good football.

Those old enough will remember how the board supported Arthur Cox when we narrowly missed out to the Owls. Blackburn etc.
Cox moved on to a much higher club than where Portsmouth are now.

I do feel that Cook could do much better if he stayed with us. By that I mean that I'm sure a better offer than Portsmouth will come along.

If a big opportunity did come along, we have to be realistic and say well done and thanks for everything, but would Portsmouth look that ambitious?
I'm not so sure!
Oh Rodney, Rodney

Agreed, Have to admit Sheff U, IMO, are there for the taking in the final. They know it, their fans know it, Clough knows it and we know it and the psychological pressure on them would be massive.

They are OK in one off cup matches against big clubs but, time and time again, they have shown they are vulnerable against clubs in this division. One point out of six against Yeovil and Leyton Orient in the last week or two tells it's own story.

A victory in the final against Sheff Utd would make my year and would be one never to be forgotten, especially by all those Chesterfield Blades who travel on the train from Town to support them.

This will 100% affect him when he moves to another club. Surprised he's got away with it so long here tbh.

So do I as it happens...

If he goes elsewhere, and achieved success at some point he going to reach a point where he has taken a club as far as he can, it all levels off eventually. I know Cooks ambitious, and wants to be the best,so to speak....

Say he took over the pompey....in L2, decent budget and gets them promoted. Next season has a run and hits the play offs even going up? (But he would need to achieve instant success, they wont be very patient).. at what point will the Pompey board say no more money this is the limit? Will he jump ship then? Saying he has taken the club as far as he can?

If, by some miracle we manage to get to Wembley and win, what tougher challenge in football is there than keeping a small club like Chesterfield out of the bottom 3? Surely, that one season would be as hard a challenge as you can get, and how better to make your name than achieving the impossible? Then he would really have a host of big clubs after him.

Is Cook being a little naïve? It takes a long time to make a good reputation in football, and a short time to loose it.

Maybe the whole Pompey thing is there just to get his name out into the public domain and try to land a bigger job.

A new hope.

Investment company as owners, who wont put money in, don't own the ground, disillusioned fan base.

He would probably be better off at Pompey.

Someone was on about Dyche being the next Derby manager - Now Turf Moor might be something he would be a good fit for

A new hope.

It's all a domino effect or the managerial merry-go-round.
PC's eyes would light up like a Catherine Wheel if the Burnley job came up as he is and ex player I believe. This would be a step forward for his career not IMO a step back 're Portsmouth.
But would a big team take a chance on Cookie?

Lazio were 1/5 in-play earlier to win against Chievo.
