They'll get around £6m for staying in the championship. Add that to the £4m+ they got for this season. Add to that playing in nearly full stadium every home game. Fair amount coming in. Amused?

Yet Evans continually whines about being outpriced of every striker he wants to sign on a permanent deal!

He probably is cos at that level there are clubs paying mega wages. Rotherham I would guess cant compete with the bigger clubs on wages, too big a gamble for them to do that. But they have a fair whack coming in to bolster their bid to survive in the championship. Millers fans are very lucky.

If they make a profit, this year or next, they will be one of the very few (especially those not receiving parachute payments) who have in recent years in the Championship. Full ground? Still amounts to only about 3000 more than us, and the worst in their division.

Seems like a good move by Doncaster after bringing in that giant striker, Ikpeazu, who had been at Scunthorpe. But then again Dickov is a pal of Evans who says that he "wholly respects" Doncaster Rovers! Doncaster are going for it.

Generally seems to be fees they cant agree for a couple of players they've already had on loan when he moans about being priced out. At some point they need to start paying for the ground as well dont they?

Ikpeazu had been on loan at Crewe and he is now back with them after Dickov didn't give him enough playing time, I believe.

Ah ok, good news for Crewe then. He was a monster of a nuisance at our place. Surprised Dickov couldn't utilise him.

If they can keep their spending / wage bill as low as possible and stay in the championship for a few seasons they ought to be able to pay a big chunk of it off. No?

I am, by your naivety. The lowest playing budget last season in the championship was over six million and rotherham's will be higher than that, that's all their central funds and gate receipts and more spent. I'd be surprised if they don't lose £4m this season - and that's without paying a penny for their ground yet. Their major problem may be the disintegration of their local council to whom they owe £15m, the new commissioners placed in charge by the government will insist on full commercial interest rates and rapid repayment: it could well prove to be the iceberg to the miller's titanic. Good

That's about my expectation of losses. The club has a 31 December year end, so its completely out of sync with a season of football. (I don't why the football league doesn't insist on the same year end for all clubs, so there can be a true comparison). Wont be until the 31 December 2015 accounts are published that we will see what actually is happening.

That's a very good point, 'B', one I hadn't considered.
However let's not write our similar neighbour's obituary too soon. They're one of those inexplicably fortunate clubs who're backed by a chairman and directors possessing more money than sense. I'd guess they've already blown multi-millions more than they'll ever recoup even if they retain their second tier status. Of course their return to the lower leagues they've traditionally occupied and where they unquestionably belong is guaranteed, as is another financial crisis if/when the current Board decide enough's enough.
Unfortunately there seem to be three outfits even worse than them this season, so Blubber Boy and those kissing his ample ass get a temporary reprieve.

Just that they're in the championship pulling a hell of a lot more money in, a chairman that supports the club, and don't seem to have a muppet as CEOs (although they do as manager)

It's nothing to do with how much they pull in, it's more about how much the muppet spends of that money.
