How We Can Beat Derby Tactical masterplan

Any team playing with a high line will neutralise Martin's threat as he has no pace
A sitting midfielder will also neutralise Martin as he likes to drop off the centre-backs five yards or so to receive the ball
The left-back Forsyth will rarely pass down the line but very often pass long, low, inside to Martin's feet. Forsyth is very good in the air but easy enough to beat on the ground
Buxton is an effective defender nowadays but his distribution is poor and so it's actually worth letting him have the ball at the back and letting him make a bad pass
....and, in general, as Cook likes to do, "Press, press, press!"

The teams who go there, open up and try to play football, seem to get turned over pretty easily.

I hate the thought of us taking 5700 fans and sitting back and not playing our natural game.
Let's go there in full voice, get behind the team from the off and go for the jugular and let them worry about us. If we lose we lose.

Our teams is as good as their team if they rest a few of the normal team so we should play our normal game.

Best form of defence is attack!
Cookie plays this way every game, thankfully.
Edit. Huddersfield game apart, hope he remembers that everytime he thinks of going defensive!
Still shudder now at the memory of Ryan on the wing lol.

I was thinking of the Leeds game too- we went there and played some cracking stuff (it worked against Boro in 97 too!) and were unlucky that an individual error plus a screamer gave Leeds the win.
I really hope we don't sit deep as that is playing to Derby's strengths. Martin can't run- he is too fat- but he can get on the end of crosses, pick up chances in the box, and dives for a living.

He has already said that with the Support we will have he will go out to Win the game the best way we can.
The only contributing facor ill be the team they put out on the day. Will he rest Russell, Martin or any other First Team player, who knows but on the Day we can beat anyone.
Let's enjoy the day either way. Every game in the F A Cup is a Final for us and this Year alone we will have played 4 years worth of FA Cup games so lets just go for it.

And based on Ipswich's performance v Saints the other night I have come to the conclusion that some of the teams doing well in the Championship are bobbins!

If we do we have every chance of turning them over.
