He initially delivered a few results with us too. A super 4-2 fightback win against Oldham from 2 down springs to mind with Reevesy doing us a favour missing a chance to equalise for them. We also pushed west ham very close in the league cup live on sky. He also signed Chris Brandon, Caleb folan, and I think Carl Muggleton maybe our bravest ever keeper. It all went wrong very quickly though.

I always felt some sympathy for Rushberry, the town job was much more difficult back then. I wonder why he keeps taking these jobs, didn't he have a sandwich shop or something?

I also wonder if his seeming arrogance was a defensive reaction to some of the horrible abuse he got.

Recall that we had a string of undeserved 1-0 wins under him!

The thing is, the players emboldened above all seemed to have some quality, so it's just a shame that either we didn't have the money to bring their non-league equivalents to the Lane (he said we didn't have the funds to make impossibly persuasive offers to players) or (for his sake), that he mutually exited before he could do it. I heard he had a sandwich shop (might have been in Alfreton), but if he's a qualified physio, then I suppose that could be where he does his best work. Trouble is, a lot of people connected with football, dream of being a successful manager and it's not something everyone can be.

Terrible manager, way out of his depth in management. Bet he wishes he would have stayed as physio.

Thing is though (and I don't doubt what you're saying) a string of undeserved 1-0 wins would probably have saved his job at the Lane and given us mid-table security. Perhaps it would only have postponed the inevitable.

I worked with him for a few years, and I'd say he's very arrogant; but, then again, most people in the football playing/management bubble are.

Almost the identical excuse he told me about why he left CFC; they wouldn't give him the money to bring in the players he wanted to bring in.

I didn't know that, but I'm glad you told me.

It seems imperative that the new man has to have funds or we'll be playing Sheffield FC next season.

His sandwich shop was in Clay Cross, hasn't been there for a year or two.

I think it went bust due to a poor selection of sandwiches.

His decision to stand by his selection of peanut butter and smoked salmon in pitta bread coated with ketchup was his downfall .

Deserved wins because of Blathers. He must have been MOM 3 out of 4 weeks that season

We need new players ASAP and the one we've just signed to shore up the defence, put through his own goal for the winner at Halesowen Town; you couldn't make it up.

We lost that one against 10 men having been 2-1 up, so the new guy's got a job on.

How's Micky Harcourt playing these days? Good friend of mine, but due to my football viewing days being on pause.. I don't take it much football.

Harcourt's a good player and he scored against Alfreton the other night. When this team gets re-shaped (as it surely will be if not now, then come the Summer) I hope we keep him, he's such a versatile guy.

Still got a rate gob on him? We were at the academy together during college when Cluxton had the U19'a gig at Staveley! Adam Yates was there too.. Another top top player, just always been on the skinny side!

Well we've been drawn away to either Chesterfield or Glossop in the next round (semi-final I believe) of the Derbyshire Cup, so you may get to judge for yourself!

Can't imagine you'll put out a comprehensively strong team for that tie, but it'll probably be enough to win, particularly with us struggling.
