We'll have to disagree on that then.

My thoughts are supported by having seen him score v The Red Lion or some team in the Derbyshire cup and the fact that if you can hit a ball like that then it doesn't matter who the opposition are. so what if it only comes off 1 in20 times. On the rare occasions he has tried something outlandish on the bigger stage it has failed (Bristol rovers excepted) and the murmurings of consternation (perhaps a better word than ridicule)have grown over the course of time and are quite audible

SOME town fans are only happy when they have "a whipping boy" to get stuck into, the likes of Tony Moore, Barry Roache, Chris Perkins etc (how long could the list be?) spring to mind. This season, with the class of players we have could be difficult for them, Nando not has technically talented as some may fit the bill in their eyes

Because those other 19 times are simply surrendering possession. If he is frequently trying outlandish things and they're not coming off aside from the one match you quote then why is it surprising that people aren't happy with that?

As for whipping boy, I'm not sure where the line is drawn between not rating a player and him being a "whipping boy".

A Rovers fan:
Our goal was fantastic, however, a great individual strike by Nando from 25 yards out. As has been commented above, we also showed good character to get back in the game so quickly after conceding an early goal.

In the second half we completely dominated. Our front three caused them all sorts of problems, with Nando outstanding and Odejayi having his best half in a Rovers shirt. Other than the equaliser - finally a goal from a set play - our best chance fell to Donnelly, which he unfortunately skied.

Collectively, we again worked tremendously hard as a team, with and without the ball. Individually, Nando was man of the match, but I thought Laird and Holness also had very good games; the former seems to be blossoming under the new manager.

A Dons fan:
He was excellent. Probably the best player on the pitch, we would've won comfortably if not for him.

Another Rovers fan:
Few more performances like that and i can see us putting a bid in for him in January.

I'd heard the name but just before my time. I regularly went to Central League games with my Grandad in the early 60's and a lad by the name of Plant (left winger never made the !st team) got some horrendous stick with the smaller attendances at these games the stick became more personal. It was this abuse that introduced me to term as referred to by Grandad as a "whipping boy"

He's certainly not had the abuse during games (if any at all) that Whitaker received (and if anybody didn't deserve this is was Danny). That really did make me ashamed to support my team (I never want to go there ever again!)

He is to some on here, "car crash of a footballer" what a ridicules thing to say and very few objected to thoses words

Misunderstanding due to his relatively poor English I think. Adams has said that he doesn't want him dropping back into midfield areas which he was tending to do. He wants him in the box and they will work on getting good balls into him. Liking to go deep as opposed to being a midfielder I think.

If he was a whipping boy he would have been crucified over his last two town cameos, as he fell well short of the required standard. Town fans loved his effort, passion ,commitment and apparent love of the shirt and gave him a chance to improve without abuse and ridicule. I'm not sure I saw much effort and passion in those last 2 games
