Todays result is really a big setback, for both the confidence of fans, and players alike.
Whats happening to Cloughs Blades right now.??
I really dont know, but for me there a few things emerging about Clough -sadly- that we didnt know. Most important one is, he STILL doesnt know his best team.Unbelievable really.
Second one is-hes proved he simply cannot pick out a quality player-If he could he wouldnt have signed Higdon,Basham etc. I really think that Clough had never seen Higdon play before he signed him-I hope someone asks him if they have the chance!!!--Third one is we are lining up so defensive against poor teams like Chesterfield-Rochdale-Colch-etc. Looks like this is the way he manages, buying so many
utility midfielders come defenders etc.-And fourth point is--Is Clough any better than at least 8 current first division managers.? The answer is certainly a NO.-15 years at Burton and Derby didnt really bring vast successes, and I didnt see a queue forming for his services when he was sacked at Derby -Only us---Brian Robson was chosen because of his past football ability for club and country.-Not for his super management CV.
Maybe, just maybe,if you take away the fact that Nigel was Brians son,Nigel just becomes one of 10 managers in Div 1,who are doing ok.
More is expected of Clough in other words-I think you know what I am getting at.
Finally the statement made by Phipps saying that Clough should stay for 20 more years at the Lane- One of the most stupid statements I have heard for many years, from a chairman who knows nothing about football,he is not alone with TEL another one in this category. Derek Dooley was the last Chairman who KNEW what Engish football was about. God we are in mess right now.-I am certain now, that Nigel is not the answer, although intially I wanted him to be a success.

I'm guessing that they have been on the Blades' message board and found that particular post. It's been posted up because the poster describes us as a poor team.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Said poor team battered you today, played football that you just couldn't match or cope with, fitter and quicker. Then you add into the equation an 18 year old keeper playing his very first match. These all add up and proves that poor little Chesterfield have a better team, play better football and have the better manager. It's easier to say we were a poor side than accept the fact you were given a lesson in football today
