Given every home league game is pretty much sold out anyway I'm not sure how that was going to happen.

Probably should have said increased income eg midweek events meet the manager sort of stuff, I told him with Rooney in charge they would be favourites for relegation

I met with a very senior person at Plymouth and asked them this very question, the thinking was the Rooney name would increase ticket sales and they were hoping to get in some very good back room staff to do the work on the training ground

So you don?t appoint a manager for his pedigree? Wow.. Dave Allenesque

They deserve it to be relegated if they've made an appointment for such stupid reasons.

Totally agree, I was at Arsenal a few weeks ago and must say they are a very professionally run club

That's not how it works nowadays. Some foreign owner will always want to appoint a 'name' regardless of how well they can actually manage.

I hope he makes a go of it,but not for Plymouth's sake, but his own. I think too many ex premiership players are starting at the wrong end of the leagues, because they'd learn a lot from starting out in the National League or even lower. It may not be as well paid as they're used to, but the learning experience will be worth it I'm sure.

Can't stand Wayne rooney. Terrible excuse of a human being. I always remember a head teacher finding out rooney was coming to his high school to open a new building. Head teacher said 'no thanks'.

If rooney ever got close tongue England job i would stop watching.

Absolutely mental that a club would sack a manager after one game

Probably the embarrassment of losing at home to Sheff Utd, but more likely some issues behind the scenes.

They didn't sack him. We went to Ridsdale yesterday and said he'd had enough.

Ridsdale was on Talksport when I went down to pick up the Derby tickets and call at John Pye earlier.
