agreed - Parkin would be a useful player to have in the squad for a season

Well little Fleetwood dont think so.

Well, I'm happy to back him. For one thing , compared to what we've got this time and last time in league 1, at least Parkin has been there and done it. Did you see Kevin Davies and Craig Davies play for PReston against Rotherham in the play offs. I'd dint, they were .... Well.... A little on the big and slow side. We've got him now and if he keeps/gets himself fit, he might add to what we've got. He's a more rounded player than armband. The big question as I see it: who else will be coming up top

He most certainly is!

What a predictable reaction from some of the less intelligent on here. I for one hope he enjoys his trial and if he does enough to impress Cook enough to offer him a deal then so be it.

Agreed. For me it isn't personal. I suspect they were all the hird haters, and the Richards is a great signing brigade. Let the guy see what he can do. You never know

He most certainly is!

One of my friends is a Fleetwood fan and he believes they would have liked to keep Parkin but as he was their top earner (c.£3k a week) and - given he can't play every game - they felt better value was available elsewhere.

Little Fleetwood probably didn't think he was worth anything like they were paying him. I'm sure they would have looked at the situation differently if they could have signed him for a season for a grand a week. Not saying he'd go to anybody for that type of wage, (maybe pumped up with a good goal bonus), but trying to make an argument out of it is a poor one. Also little Fleetwood more than likely can outdo us on terms offered to players, so are they really so little as you allude to?

Hi guys. You are allowed to offer opinions on players before they sign if you've seen them play against you enough. There are also statistics available. DWT maybe you'd prefer everyone to copy and paste "I'll wait and see how he does" despite him scoring 7 league goals last season in a lower league. Alternatively just create a thread and lock it so nobody needs to waste their time posting.

You lot would be happy if we signed Colin Larkin and Mark DeBolla up for next season "ooo let's see how they do, they might spring a surprise".

This is like being savaged by a dead guinea pig

Josh, why single me out? The up the arsè comment wasn't aimed directly at you, moreso, after 25 years of watching Town you get used to the sort of reaction that we've seen on this thread by fans in general. Folk not prepared to give players a chance.

They could have offered him a contract on a lower wage, as we did for Richards. They chose not to.

If he thinks he can get a stellar contract at 4st overweight and 32 years old with 7 goals to his name last year then good luck to him.

Cos I'm the chief "I don't want Parkin" bloke lol. Real name no gimmicks everyone else is a pretender to the throne.

I wouldn't do this for any other player... Apart from Obadeyi.

Brand new ball game now. We will get a striker but it won't be a marquee one.

Truth is, you must be disappointed that he's not coming on trial! Give me a minute and I'll find last season's post from you advocating that we sign him. You flow in and out like a Spring tide son!
