Are we totally incapable of dealing with crosses into our box or what. I hope cook has learned that Hird is not right back. Teams now no we have a got a serious weakness in dealing with crosses and set pieces.

How many goals have we conceded prior to yesterday from set pieces? I recall Mansfields goal, anymore ?

Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

I think Cook will have learned a lot from yesterday, and I think a reason we lost was something we feared, juggling a winning formation around to include Ian Evatt. In an ideal world we needed to keep the Hird and Cooper partnership intact - 4 goals against all season to date (ok coops hasn't played all of those) but who would have thought bringing in Evatt would cause so much chaos, I would have preferred to see Darikwa at right back, he's played their often enough and we could have kept the cb pairing intact, but having Evatt on the bench was a big problem, so I can also understand why Cooky changed things around to include him.

The team at the end of the game looked far more like a typical Chesterfield side from recent years in league two, players out of position and players with the physic (sp?) of Devitt on the pitch against players twice as strong, think he needs more time in that boxing class. Doyle is another who struggles against the type of players Morecambe have - unless they are still asleep like they were in the first 18 mins.

A thing I picked up on while watching the highlights last night was that we signed Evatt to improve our defending of set pieces, as Trotman wasn't effective, although I'm not certain Evatt was positioned correctly yesterday when we were defending them (having watched the goals on tv), perhaps Morecambe attacked well and lured Evatt out of position and took advantage of his lack of games this year.

Morecambe are direct and look to play it long. I agree that we defended too deep and think this was maybe to try and protect Evatt, at his level of match fitness, from being caught out with a ball over the top. In hindsight it was a mistake to move Hird. Based on performances I dont see why his position is more dispensible than Cooper's.
