I like Ian Evatt, I enjoyed watching him when he was here before I thought he had lots to offer back then and I think he has an abundance of experience to offer now. However I don't believe for one second that anyone at the club would be responsible for a stupid decision as you describe, you say your source is his father-in-law, how well do you know him? Did he tell you that himself?

He has suffered for a few injuries in the past and for a league two club to push the boat out to that extent for any player is just plain daft.

I sincerely hope he joins our club, but not on those terms.

Mark, If Cresswell had joined on 2k a week and 500 appearance money, but we paid £180k in fees as fleetwood did, overall its not far off the same in total. Whats the difference?
A new hope.

His father in law, does sound a bit too much though

And your problem with Chris is? All he wants is good terms for Ian and his family. I have known Chris for years and he can never be described as too much. I hope evo signs despite bell ends like you slating his nearest and dearest.

He's been offered 70k relocation fee, 4k a week, plus £500 per game on a 3 year deal. We really are breaking the bank this season

absolutely no chance unless a private backer is funding ala lester.

And from what I gather its sounds like another 'Lester' situation where the player contacted the club, not the other way round.

I agree, it seems his Missus wanted to move back to town, had this not been the case then you'd think Fleetwood would have been approached. I do have concerns though he might not be the same player after such an injury, think Jamie Lowry and to a lesser extent Aaron Downes.

His pace in the beginningwasn't great, so if he has lost a bit from the injury maybe he feels the championship is a bit much? but feels L1 and L2 would be less demanding?

Maybe he enjoyed his time here so we were the only club at this level he would want to play for?

To be fair though, it's not really the same club that he left all those years ago. New ground, ownership, back room staff, management, board and expectation levels!!!

The desire to move back home seems the most likely.

It's too much mate for a league two club mate that's all I'm saying. And I include Cresswell if that's what he would have cost.
Spending that much on one player is a massive, massive gamble. It's how lower league clubs get themselves into serious trouble.

I trust that PC and CT will do the right deal for the club. If they have concerns they won't go through with it

Adding fuel to the fire (not that it seems necessary now, but hey ho!), despite the sky sports report about training with Blackburn, it appears he's been training with us this week.

Having spent the summer re-structuring the club's wage policy, I would be very surprised if PC would then undermine all that good work offering one player that kind of money. It wouldn't do much for dressing room morale

With a CEO, I doubt very much PC would be that heavily involved in contract negotiations.

Signing on fees are common at this level, (or relocation fees if you like) but won't be any where near the figure quoted. I'd expect around £10k maximum.

HMRC has the relocation package allowance set at £8K to be free of both NI and Income Tax, if you move to somewhere within a 'reasonable travelling distance'.

If it's not going to financially demolish the club I wouldn't mind him on that wage he's worth it!
