Chesterfield has told RS that, after having several bids rejected, they have now ended their interest in Southend defender Ryan Creswell.

Chesterfield chief exec Chris Turner has said: "No deal can be reached with Southend and that is the end of the matter."
Looks like that is it.
It's all part of the game. Wait until Southend fail to pay him, he can then walk for free! Pressure is on them now to come back with a 'sensible' counter offer.

I think its a game of poker and chesterfield are just folding and waiting, perhaps they need the player to make the next move, lets face it southend dont want an unsettled player who walks for free either next summer or january even.

They are pondering reporting us to the F L for bidding lower than they want. Good luck with that.

I think this one still has some way to go. Let's see the panic down there when we're linked with another CH and the realisation sets in that their bluff has been well and truly called.

He fit the bill perfectly bonused by his age aswell.
This has disappointed me simply because of the amount of time and energy spent on him. I know its not his fault but if he is playing for them come kick off and he is giving it his all then I would feel slightly cheated in the fact that he didn't really want to come here after all.
Saying that though life goes on, leave it to PC to sort it. He seems the type of bloke who knows what he's got to do. Plan B and all that.

We've offered an initial seventy, then another ten grand on top of that this weekend, Southend are insisting it's not enough for a player who's made it clear he wants to come here, so Town have effectively walked away waiting to see if the financially challenged Shrimpers prefer an unhappy player to a hefty cheque.
And having signed an apparent replacement, too.
Me? I'll be disappointed if what seemed like 'the last piece of the jigsaw' doesn't sign, however I'd guess there're a number of League One or even Championship standard central defenders still without a contract and prepared to sign for Town. In short, I reckon we're in by far the stronger position.
