If Fleetwood have allegedly made an 80k bid and got turned down (which is actually very debatable) why are allegedly making a 25k bid?

To be honest though as someone has said why are so few clubs chasing him, Southend actually wanting money for him is possibly the answer. He isn't going to be a target for that many league 1 clubs and what league 2 clubs can afford a decent fee

We are testing the water with a low bid after having watched from the shoreline for quite a while, while other clubs bids have been either rejected by the club or player or both and we fully know they won't except this offer.
Basically we are playing a bit of a game; both we and Southend know who the player wants to play for and that he wants to move back north. IF they've rejected the bid the balls back in our court, though they probably know we are looking to get him on the cheap and we will probably counter with another offer, which we will probably make clear that this is our final offer and we won't be coming back with any further ones, putting the ball firmly and squarely in their court.

Either that or this thing is closer to happening than what anyone knows (apart from deep within each club) and they are making the right noises by turning down a disarray bid, before they accepting what they will announce as a much improved (though undisclosed) bid for him.

I'm finding it all quite interesting to be honest and we will see how much muscle and business nous we've got in all of this, something I can't ever recall us having before.

Doesn't matter how much Fleetwoods offered if you think logically as Cresswell would still have to agree terms and if he doesn't want to go there then that's that.

Fleet wood are no longer interested, they have signed somebody else, so whatever they bid is no longer relevant. Sarfend have been trying to play mind games but been doing it very badly. We have allegedly made a bid: let's see if they can afford to turn it down. No doubt they will be spinning for all they are worth to their local press but I'd ignore that, it's purely for local consumption, the real facts will be known in the boardrooms, not the press rooms. Knowing CFC there will be a strict timescale attached to the offer and it won't increase. We'll know very soon.

He is only saying what has been offered and if Southend keep bringing this fee up in reports and he goes to us later for undisclosed the Southend fans will think that we went above Fleetwoods offer even if we didn't, it makes sense for them to keep mentioning the 80k.

I have seen a report in Southend's own press suggesting Fleetwood's second offer was well below the 80k figure reported
