David Perkins joining Blackpool from Barnsley. Decent player who we should probably have tried to keep...

By my reckoning, that's the 55th current league player we should have tried to retain.

In any event, not ours to keep, was here on loan from Colchester, retuning there eventually to win four player of the year awards, rejected their offer at the end of that season of a new contract and signed for Barnsley.

Its quite easy to sort the wheat from the chaff though - hence Perkins has been playing championship football for the last couple of seasons.

I reckon we could have got him at the time - after he left us he spent most of the rest of that season on loan to rock bottom Stockport.

He never impressed me. Perhaps the less physical nature of the Championship suits him more.

Was he actually there for 4 seasons after returning from us?

In one season won Player of the year, Player's Player of the year, CUSA Home player of the year and the CUSA Away player of the year.

So, he had "one" decent season then!

James Hurst loaned out from Crawley to Northampton so he might well feature against us next week.

Exactly!
From what I recall I would rather have Ryan, Morsy, and Roberts.

Played a similar role to the one Ryan has been playing for us this season I think. Ryan has the edge in class admittedly.

Wasn't ours to keep, I do wish people would realise this when we have loan players, drives me mad.

I know he wasnt, but at the time his career had hit a flat spot and he was unhappy down south. In those situations if you push the boat out you will get your man (a common failing with town in those days).

Considering he went to Barnsley, when we didn't have a pot to wee in, how could we have afforded his wages?

He didn't do enough when with us to earn a contract whether or not we could have afforded him.

I saw him have just one good game and that was against us for Rochdale.

Based on his performance that day he was a big disappointment when in our shirt.
