Always said we have to find a place in the side for him and if that meant playing with the loan striker then so be it. You can't have a player who can pass like that not playing just because he's weaker in the defensive side of the game! Sheer madness!! It's like leaving a 30-40 goal a season striker out of the squad because he doesn't pass

He was decent today, was spraying balls about nicely and he looked confident. Also noticed him getting stuck in a few times, which is always good.

His free kick was the best I've seen from one of our lads for many a season. He foxed everybody by setting his body up for a whipped in cross. I can't tell you how excited I got to see a town player take a good free kick! It's not what I've become accustomed to over the years

One of his better games today for town and it had to be the rest of the midfield weren't very good and he was the best of them. I liked the fcat he actuallly ran with the ball on occasions today. I think it's the most involved he's ever been with a game. Let himself down with some passing as a lot went astray when a simple ball was on. If he can play the simple ball more often then he may well be getting somewhere. Well done lad

I thought it was drifting in from where I was sat, would have been a beautiful strike. And I know what you mean about our lack of direct goals from close range free kicks, I've not seen many! Did you see Richards' free kick against Matlock in the pre-season? Was a nice finish from about 25 yards out, one of the very few free kicks I've seen us score. However it being a friendly against Matlock Town, I'm not really sure it counts!!

He had never deserved a place in the past. Now though, he's playing like a senior professional playmaker, taking good free kicks and corners to supplement his natural creativity.
Mind you, he still gives me the eeby jeebys when he comes very deep for the ball. He lost it a couple of times today, but fortunately got debatable free kicks in his favour.

Didn't make Matlock this year so unfortunately I didn't. It's something that's really grated on me over the years as we have seen some beautiful goals from free kicks. Ours are dire or have been up to now (let's face it we've been that bad over the years we should be due an entire DVD's worth for the fans to be able to purchase in the summer

Because he wasn't played in the right way as fishini quite rightly says. I agree with your last statement and he was definitely lucky on a couple of occasions. Credit to Burton though how quick they closed down in the first half; they never gave us time to settle on the ball at all.

I've always seen enough in him to play him. The trouble with Sheridan (as fishini rightly says), he didn't have a clue how to get the best out of players or even to play them in the best positions. We'll see a different Mark Randall from now on, same as Talbot. Today I though his attacking play was immense, okay he's never going to be the best defender in the league, but IF he contributes that much towards a game then you can live with his slight lack of defensive knowhow.
Agreed RE Smith, he was indeed class.

For the final 30 minutes of the first half he was poor and lost possession with misplaced passes, Hollywood balls, or shear poor thinking. This 30 minutes could have cost us the match. But for his first 15 minutes and final 30 the boy did ok - no where near MOM though. If it was left to me it was between Smith and Cooper but I understand it went to the man that cost us their goal!!

I'm a fan of his but he was poor in the first half, time and time again giving the ball away. Played
well in the second though. Funny how we all see things differently.
