Clarke will score goals at any level below championship. Simple footballer: win a header, hold up the ball, shoot on sight. That's why he is good at that level

Cannot believe so many of you on this board thought that he was rubbish and that 'we could do better.' Well more fool all of you because he is doing the business again, this time for Scunthorpe in league one.

He is getting rave reviews from all the fans and the local press and some are saying that he won today's game at Coventry on his own. Yeh. we'll stick with Boden up front..

Typical Town Fans

Boden up front on his own = conference

I don't think I ever saw him win a header in a town shirt! He used to jump for them but had no intention of actually heading it

This thread really makes me cringe mate! "Oh Clarke is doing rate good at Scunny, all you lot who said he was rubbish were wrong, I was right, my dick's bigger than yours!" Get a grip pal!!
In Clarke's first 3 games for us he was excellent and scored 5 goals............in his next 16 games he was gash, lazy and scored 4 goals. After seeing how good he could be in his first 3 games it was disappointing to see him being so poor from then on, and that's why many on here, myself included, didn't want him back. I stand by it, still don't want him no matter how well he's doing at Scunny, So wind your neck in.
We 8 Mansfield oh we 8 Mansfield!!

9 goals in 14 games in League 1 with us in a dreadful team with no confidence???
It's a no brainer!

My opinion, formed on seeing him play, was that he was a poor all round player. Made the occasional good run and was fortunate to score the number of goals he did for us.

How is scoring 9 in 14 fortunate?
That was his job and he did it...

If Tommy keeps a clean sheet is he fortunate?

I could play in goal & keep a clean sheet. I would be fortunate if I did.

It is not a 'pointless thread.' People criticised Clarke when he was here like there was no tomorrow despite him scoring a hatful of goals for us. My point is that yes he may not be the best striker to watch but he gets goals and that is something we lack so perhaps people should think before they criticise players who are obviously better than us

It is a pointless thread, when he was here he did well in the first three games or so after that he offered nothing whatsoever, whether that was because of the players around him or not is a different argument. However, based on his performances whilst he was here I would not have brought him back to the club. Also don't forget just because he is doing the business at Scunny it doesn't mean he would have done it here. Finally he is not at the club and judging by the wages he was on, isn't likely to be unless its a loan and the parent club is paying a large slice of his wages.

Next topic!

There you go. How can offering an opinion about the performance of a former player be pointless on a Spireite debating platform?

My opinion is that Leon Clarke is a class poacher because he has excellent technique and all the other attributes. That's why he is in demand.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on
