I wish I'd been supporting town for a couple more seasons than I have :( Infact a bit more than that as I'd have loved to have seen the Rangers game.

Happy Days!

I was one of the thirty or so that flew up to Glasgow.

That was special, probably one of the best seasons for us,think it was only time i watched a game in main stand to scared to go anywhere else lol

Maybe not the time now (close season would be good), but it would be fantastic to hear a load of fans accounts/ memories from that game and era. Perhaps you could kick everyone off Keith in the summer??

Cups always do take their toll, the FA cup run cost us a higher place in the league that season. Not sure about the JPT run last season though, less games and the first few rounds we rested players.

Sure i agree,we reached third round of F A Cup,second round of League Cup of both domestic competitions and we needed replays in most of them, but we gave it our best shot and were rewarded with some great football that season.....

Were people scared of going to Glasgow? Obviously it's impossible to recreate the scenario but you'd expect a couple of thousand to go now, at least.

It was a midweek game so i doubt 2000 would go on that basis,i didn't go i must have been on nights but very doubtful i would have gone anyway to that one.....

I am going to throw the name Alex Sabella's name into the thread, wasn't he the first Argentinian footballer to play in this country,Sheffield United signed him as a second best to Diego Maradonna who turned them down,We must have seen Sabella as we played Sheff Utd while he was there and beat them home and away.....

They had a reputation that is why i went into stand for the home game but i still had to get to it,but it was there reputation that put me off going in kop.....no way today would we take 2000 up there not in midweek anyway....

He played in both games against us in 1979/80 Keith.

He is now Argentina's manager.

Probably one of Sheff Utd's better bits of business.

Bought him for £160k,sold him for £400k.

Skilful player, but sadly lacking in pace, only played 23 games for Leeds before heading back home.

Seem to remember he was hailed as the new Tony Currie at Bramall Lane, which he patently wasn't and the fans never really took to him.

Gordon Banks must be the highest rated player, played against us in the F A Cup in 1972 at Stoke and Kevin Randall scored against him,the goal of the game.....

I was there. I think there was some trouble after the game
