listening to TW's interviews before the game yestdi, he mentioned the new lad from hudders was on the radar last year and that they wanted to bring him in then, so to me that means we are still signing SHERIDANS players/targets, thus not moved on,
as for the game, as good as the result was i can't help but think the early sending off did for WW, but for that the scoreline might have been different, apart from the 15 mins or so after the sending off when they lost all shape and we took advantage, it seemed a pretty fair contest, infact for a long spell of the 2nd half THEY were the better team, i still am not convinced TW is the man to take this club/team forward, but whilst ever he is in charge will try to support him and as long as we keep getting the results thats all that matters.

Tommy Wright has shown he isn't a carbon copy of Sheridan in the following ways so far:
- He tried a formation that wasn't 4-4-2 (Oldham at home in the JPT when he played 4-2-3-1)
- He played a high tempo pressing game in the first half and the first ten minutes of the match yesterday
- His interviews are articulate and honest as opposed to guarded and defensive
Re. the signing of Atkinson, I wouldn't read anything into that. If you've got the chance to sign a player who you think is good regardless of who spotted him in the first place/who wanted to sign him then you should take it and that's what he did. I think it's still too early to judge.
What I think will happen is that we'll keep Tommy on till the end of the season and take stock from there.

I'm not really sure if Sheridan really ever had any targets. I've heard that Shez was given a list of players by our scout, who was then told I don't care what you think. Now TW on the other hand has openly said he will go and watch matches when we are not playing, Including reserve matches.
It seems to me more and more that although they have been a team for 6 years or more, that there is the possibility that TW and JS didn't see eye to eye on several issues, including players, tactics, training etc.

Whether Chris Atkinson is one of Sheridans/Wrights/Chief Scouts targets he looked pretty useful to me yesterday.
+1 for that

He only left a few weeks ago, so we are bound to be signing players that were scouted during Sherdian's reign. The only way we couldn't is if TW went scouting and assembled a private file on targets to be chased down in the event that he ever got the manager's job, which would be a daft thing to do. Just because they were scouted under JS's tenure, it doesn't mean that TW has to sign them: everyone who comes in from now will be a TW man.

Now, if you were being trained up by somebody that shows you how to hammer a nail into some wood, then you will do it the way you have been trained to do it.
But if you have two trainees that between them figure out a way to hammer this nail into the wood, they are gonna do it that way, it doesn't matter that they don't work together anymore, because if one of them thinks he can hammer it in differently and it doesn't necessarily work out then he will always revert back to the way he taught himself.
What I'm saying is that when Sheridan and Wright first got together as a management team they would have sat down and come up with a plan that they thought would work for them.
Oldham, they took into the play-off zone.
Chesterfield, two trophies in three seasons.
Now, just because Sheridan isn't here anymore what makes you think that Tommy Wright is gonna change things when he knows damn well that the plan he's worked to for 6 years has had success?
So he gives a different style of interview, so what? Interviews don't win matches. Players and tactics do, out of his first four games he's changed it for one match, then reverted back to what he knows best.
Which is the same tactics as what Sheridan would play.

Of course he got stuck into R OD and NT - but that's for the dressing room - not morose / whining post match 'interviews' (btw - apart from his TV bloopers moment! Neil was much much better - he won some towering headers in our box from dangerous crosses)
im happy that we keep the ball better - i think the stats back that up - and look a much better unit ... under JS we lost the ball and all watched as they exposed the wide open spaces. 2 away draws (one at the league leaders) and a decent win at home - yes we would all have loved to see us knock in another few in the second half ... but its not that simple - and we all know that
onwards to tues, accy dont get the credit they deserve, and it will be difficult. Good luck to Tommy and the lads

I was there yesterday. Apart from playing it around instead of long ball football what was the big difference?
We still sat back and invited them to attack.

Well playing on the floor is a huge difference from playing long ball for a start...
Did you not notice our high up the pitch pressing game? Not notice how high our midfield two moved up the pitch when the opposition had the ball? Under Sheridan they both sat deep.

Yes, we attacked well yesterday but defensively we were still naive.
Didn't you see that?
I know you would've done if Sheridan was still in charge.
Double standards.
