seems to me that at the moment we have a bit of an unbalanced team, plenty of time to sort it out but would sheridan ever think of 3 at the back? italy played it in the euros and bog standard 442 seems to be out of fashion in the footballing world at present ,im just thinking that if smith and talbot were played slightly advanced up the pitch it might suit us,it would certainly suit drew who we know can get up and down all day and smith should also be able to do it,this would leave a kind of midfield triangle spearheaded by whittaker ahead of randall and togwell....just a thought but its a balanced side and allott slips nicely in for randall to solidify midfield.

Sounds like a decent call to me Bonny. As we stand with the current squad, playing a traditional 442 would leave us unbalanced, which I've been saying for a while now.

Whether Sheridan has the nous, or the will to try this is another thing.

Makes perfect sense to me with our current squad.

what would happen if a defender was injured or suspended? It's a pity that all three youth team graduates are forwards as they'd be guaranteed game time if they were defenders.

Nah. 3 CH's mate. Perfect role for Drew playing slighty further forward from the back 3.

The only question in my mind is whether Smith could get up and down. See no reason why not though.

Where would you accommodate Drew if Tendayi took his place on the right??

With what we have at present it's a decent call. Don't think he's even considered it though.

RPL's love child and Whittaker in midfield, hope Togwell knows what he's getting in to

Thankfully I doubt Shezza has that much imagination

I like it, Talbot and Smith are perfect for the wing back positions in my opinion, switch to a 5 man defense when defending and push them up when on the attack. Look at Napoli and most recently Wigan, thats what they use. But yes, i think more defensive cover is needed to play that..

Talbot would be a natural for that, but for me, Smith is a natural defender who doesn't look particularly suited to the wing back role. I can't think of one decent cross he put in last season.

Darikwa should be RB, if we give him game time there's a big sell on fee that'll be coming our way in the next few years.

Smith was so effective for Yeovil because he was so adept when attacking. Would suit him well.

I'll take your word for it. I never saw him play for Yeovil
