He must have been picked for the Swarkestone midweek side or something!! ;)

Ha! Pretty certain I've not seen him signed to any of the PL clubs thinking about it. Could be wrong though.

Not sure to be honest...would be Swarkestone if anyone but might not have been able to as they have numerous academy lads then re-signed Wayne White as county contracted so probably cant have Poynton\Whiteley as well. Noticed Ali Evans signed for Alfreton instead of Swarkestone as well.

Talking of Swarkestone see ex Derbyshire\Durham Garry Park smacked 150 on Saturday then took to twitter to moan about how the DCCL points system worked as they didnt get a full win.

That was my thoughts......although there does seem to be a few that seem to think that batting is the be all and end all of the game and bowling teams out doesnt matter. Be very dull if it was just straight win\lose for the league games.

I've always been a big fan of the points scoring system in the DCCL. We had a good game at Ockbrook last Saturday where the game was pretty close and we got them 9 down and they were about 15 short. Points were shared pretty evenly (think it was 17/13) for what was a well matched contest over 92 overs.

I've not played in any other leagues to compare but i've always thought that the DCCL system was more or less right and better than some of the other leagues around here especially the bizarre average points thing they used in the SNCL. Not convinced about this tweak this season regarding how to get 27pts etc but we shall see.

they tweaked it wrong in my opinion, instead of making it so who wins the toss can dictate points (almost better to lose the toss now) they should have just said 27pts if you win and bowl the other team out and 22pts if you win without bowling the other team out

therefore all batting first wins are 27pts but you can still get max points bowling first if you bowl the opposition out

Derbyshire started well today by all accouns

I'll just try to get wickets and leave it to captain marvel to tell me what points we look like getting! ;)

Baptism of fire so far this season. However today must give them some confidence - especially if they can pick up max batting points and bowl out the Tykes.....

Wicket. The stand is finally broken as Madsen is caught by Lyth off Patterson for an excellent 93 off 195 balls. Derbyshire 268-2 (74 overs)

Terrific performance.

A win against Yarkshur, at their's, would be the perfect way to start our season in earnest.

Where did that come from with Chesney? He maintained his dreadful league cricket form on Saturday and you wouldn't expect his rather leaden footed approach to pay off at Headingly in April. All the more impressive then. That's his place in the side cemented for a good while I should think.

Ahh, but do they use the heavy roller in league cricket???

Listening to the radio commentary in the office on BBC Radio Yorshire. The local commentator is of course Yorkshire through and through...

ironically, that one yarkshire loving supporter of Chesterfield is silent at the moment, still I assume when things wrong as they inevitably will, he'll pipe up and tell us all where we went wrong.

Wow, where did this knock come from? While some of the younger talents at Derbyshire have looked like progressing in the last couple of years Chesney has seemed to go backwards. Monumental innings. Hope he kicks on from this.

Certainly a hell of a knock. As you say kept threatening to progress but seemed to stall. Hopefully this one is the making of him.
