Geographically it's peculiar though they aren't far from the Notts border. Though even Selston who are Notts play in our league.

67 is quite a good score in YDCL 'wet wicket cricket'.

If Hundall have an ounce of ambition they'll get out of that and join the proper league.

Its not that bad

There is a group of us that are all for making the move, unfortunately the older heads are stuck in their ways, and the younger lads don't fancy the extra travelling.

You need to force the issue.

Even Apperknowle have done it - I bet they are glad they jumped.

Travelling isnt that bad when you are in a regionalised division which is 4 down. Yes it may become more once you get 3 or higher but once you are at that level then in my opinion you are more serious about your cricket so the travelling comes with it. We're in 4N this year and i think the furthest we'll go is Breadsall but even thats just a straight run down the A38. Last season we had Sandiacre but with them playing not for from M1 J25 thats not that bad either. That said Buxton have thrown a spanner in the not so bad travelling plan in 5N and 7N!! In 7N they play Awsworth which is by the M1 so 41 miles and 1hr 15 to do it!!

I'd rather stay in the YDCL than play at Apperknowle...

Our furthest away game last year was Hathersage (13 miles)

Doubt we would ever get into 3 anyway

Having been there done the non regionalised thing its ok whilst you are doing well, playing with lads you know and get on with and both you and any other halves accept you are going to be for most of a fair few Saturdays! The year i left Clay Cross one of the reasons was the amount of travelling that year.....i think it was 6 teams south of the Toyota factory on the A38! A quick tot up on Google Maps had it 1000 miles travelling that season from my house to our home ground and my house to the various away grounds. Part of my issue was being the wrong side of Chesterfield really up at the top end of Brampton. Just getting to the A38 to then start going down it took 30mins or so. Places like Alrewas are a 90 mile round trip!!

We were at Eckington the other day and i saw the team sheet for their first team...they were away at Denby and meeting at Eckington at 10am or Denby at 11:15 for a 12:30 start and thats only Denby!! I dread to think what time they set off for places like Lullington.

I refuse to believe anybody has ever enjoyed playing there.

Yeah, noticed Cutthorpe 1's meet at 11:15. I'm not usually out of bed by then!

Helps when you knock off 230 to win including 150 from the last 17 overs!!

Small enough ground I suppose, sounds like a good game though.

The prem teams start early as they play 50 overs per side don't they, suppose that doesn't help.

Prem and Div 1 is 50 overs...managed a couple of seasons in Div 1 and its surprising how much of a difference those extra 4 overs makes. Feels so much longer especially if you are being tapped all over by some far to good overseas!

Has there been a list of where all the pro's & overseas are this year?

DCCL posts all transfers to their twitter feed for any players as and when they are confirmed via Play Cricket so you get a feed of them pretty much all the year round here and there. This includes the overseas each year although it would seem they are a lot less of them these days than there were a few years ago although as it happens we'll come across one on Saturday as we play Belper Meadows who have an Aussie this year.

It would seem that they've made it more difficult to get overseas in properly so a lot of clubs are paying local pros instead be it just one or like some clubs loads of them.

This link may list the overseas players :-

County contracted players are here :-

Didn't know the relevant hashtags or I could of found them all by myself.

Follow DCCL on twitter even though I don't play in it as I like to keep an eye on the honours board, we have had a couple on it this season and I'm hoping I might sneak on this week!

I'd rather play at Apperknowle every week than play against miserable, cheating deedahs.

The young lads playing in Buxton 3rds may find the trip to Washlands (Burton) a little daunting, div10 (north apparently)

Didnt realise that Buxton had sneaked a 3rd team in as well!! That trip is actually shorter than the 2nds trip to Awsworth as they dont have to go as far over to the other side of Derby. Still not a great fixture to be dragging kids along to mind you although at least they only play 40 overs at that level.

played midweek at Holmesfield last night, they're coming into 4N next season

got some good players and will do well at that standard, however I think a lot of opposition captains will mark the pitch very low due to it's tendency not to bounce above ankle height

on the travel, after doing a few years of silly trips it is a lot nicer to be in 8N and not go far at all, however even the long DCCL trips are ok when compared to going to Marshalls, Lea Park or Roses in the Bassetlaw

They also go to Ilkeston 3rds who probably play in outer Mongolia good luck to them

Good side at the moment but as we've mentioned being a one team club are they realistically going to maintain it going forward? Played midweek there a few times and its not the worst place in the world to play...you just need to make sure you have plenty of spare balls!! Makes it an interesting year at the 4 level with that extra relegation place to avoid. Think its bottom 2 from each section and then the worst third place team that go down.

Apaprently they play at the "Gallows Inn Playing Fields"!! Mileage wise its not to bad but its not much fun in terms of time it will take and where you need to go.....over the tops to Cromford to pick up the A6 before heading to Ambergate then around Ripley before going through the wonderful sights of Codnor, Loscoe, Heanor and Shipley and pretty much all of Ilkeston as its the other side of the town from where you would come in!! Kids will love it....shame they cant make a day trip of it and pop to the American Adventure in the morning on route!! ;)
