DCCL points system shown up in our game last week

we got 120 all out and gave oppo 4 overs

they batted 50 overs and ended up 97-9

We get 13 points for this, one more wicket gets us 27

1 wicket should never be worth 14 points

If there are more points on offer for the batting team getting closer to a target in a losing draw then there should be more for getting more wickets!

Or instead of within 25 etc etc it should be done on percentages

Our first team got a bit lucky with the points.

Bowled out for 140odd at Belper and then off for rain for two hours. Ended up playing a last hour that ended at 8.10pm with them four shy and four wickets down after needing eleven off the last over.

I think it was 13pts to 10.

Jake Ball called up for the First Test....hmm born in Stagville....not sure I'll be celebrating too much if he get's a wicket, providing he gets picked of course.

Can't imagine he will get much if any game time, Likely to be the usual suspects I'd of thought.

Last choice seamer...will only play if others are injured I'd have thought.

bit unfair to jump above Footitt based on a few wickets early on in the season

not quick enough, nowhere near international class

Comfortable 9 wicket win today against a poor Alfreton 2nd team. They seemed to be struggling due to plenty going to watch Derby. The remainder that made up their 3rds were bowled out for 16 in 21 overs which Barbs knocked off in 4 overs.

I was surprised when they arrived back at Walton Dam at the time they did! They were described as the worst cricket team ever seen, though our first team may be in contention the way they batted yesterday.

I get the impression as a club they were struggling yesterday although their firsts won. The side we played apparently only had 4 normal 2nd team players in it. I can only imagine what the thirds were like.

I think the score gives a clue! My brother reckons if they played them ten times then 14 would be far from their worst score

Picked up a cheeky 27 today beating Langley Mill in a rearranged game. Good weekend for the dccl sides with the firsts picking up 49 from two games whilst the seconds knocked off 230ish at Apperknowle despite needing 150 from 17 overs.

Always good to see Langley Mill beaten.

A gang of us off to the Test match on Friday - forecast isn't looking all that good sadly.

Must admit, it was enjoyable especially as we were 0-1 after the first ball then 57-5 at one point. Did well to get up to 160ish for 9 in the end and then took wickets pretty steadily to bowl them out for 99 so they didnt get any batting points either.

We're only doing the one dayer on the 21st June this year, nothing else we really fancied going to.

We bowled Ashford out for 67, won by 8 wickets. Not sure if they were struggling for players but they didn't look a patch on last years side.

That being said if we bowl first we should have a lot of scores like that this year!

No game Sunday so I went to watch Cutthorpe vs Dronfield Woodhouse, 278 vs 256 with a ton from either side, was a very good batting track. Amazing that Sandiacre got bowled out for 100 on that!

67 is quite a good score in YDCL 'wet wicket cricket'.

If Hundall have an ounce of ambition they'll get out of that and join the proper league.

Holmesfield joining dccl for next season. Apparently one extra from either 4n or 4s will be relegated to make room.

Baslow and Buxton in from this season. Buxton being the odd one as they're comfortably the most geographically remote. No other DCCL club within ten miles at a guess, if not more.

I think the DCCL will happily take all Derbyshire clubs on. Very few left in the Bassetlaw or the YDCL now.

Holmesfield are an interesting one, especially for a one-team club (which surely has no long term future like that) in that I reckon they're comfortably good enough for 4N and would do OK in the one above.

Glapwell are anther one who I think would thrive in the County League.

Dccl have a process for accepting them, in theory it's part of the pyramid approach for all clubs to have a route to the premier league. Strange glapwell haven't come over yet, not many left in the Bassetlaw over this way.

South Normanton are one. Grassmoor. Whitwell. Killamarsh. That's it in Derbyshire I think.
