Glad I didn't bother going today. One day in five was punishment enough.

I don't know what day you went but for me day 1 was the worst. Thankfully I had an appointment after lunch and missed most of the mayhem

It was interesting how the crowd thinned by friday, must have been at least 90% porkshire by then

Oh I'm completely in agreement mate I would rather never host a test and have an established division 1 team without a doubt, what's the point having a glamorous stadium and a Bunkum team ? Ask Yorkshire

Let me point you towards the Division 1 table for a moment then make that statement! And we haven't even got three of our players!
"Do you think I'm here for your amusement" & good riddance to bad rubbish

First time for a long time though hey ?

And I don't accept this we are without 3 players scam, the 3 players are not being paid by Yorkshire at the moment and Yorkshire have known for a while these 3 will be missing and have replaced them from the start.

...but I think he wants to be the johnny big bollox of Derbyshire cricket which will be a massive failure.

As i've mentioned before my experience of him in local cricket circles through his involvement at Swarkestone is less that favourable and i think he may have rubbed a few others up in terms of local cricket coaches as well. There was a rumored story regarding where Burgoyne would play his club cricket and offers etc following an England U19 call up that upset his current club where he has been since a young kid and his family are part of the furniture but no idea if its true or not.

Well if it was worse than Thursday I'm glad I didn't have enough spare holidays

That's the worse DCC performance I can recall in too many watching. where's Fred Swarbrook when you need him

Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

The worst story about him was the way he allegedly carried on (drunkenly) about a certain Yorkshire player in front of their committee at Queen Park the other year.

I won't mention anything about his personal life as he's well know to be rather litigious!

I got caught up in the aftermath of the Burgoyne issue through being a moderator on the follow on website. He wanted poster information and stuff removing with threats of legal action over the stuff being posted with that. Don't think it was the first time either!!

I did find it interesting that one of the players to get a sponsored range rover evoque was poynton...someone hardly a high profile player!! ;)

He's made similar threats I heard in relation to mentions of the player you name on Derbyshire messageboard. I can't think why

Decent first over from Groenewald.

What Godleman was playing at there, I don't know. Seemed fairly regulation to me.

Held the one off Hussey well too.

Can't see what his problem was, I suppose it was a close call height wise though.

Taylor Gone!!

Just about wraps it up for us.

Waist height bowling was the argument, however not a problem when Hussey is half way down the pitch

Burgoyne and Hughes did well in their overs

Redfern wasn't too shabby either.

Mark Turner more than made up for getting hit to all corners with the take off Lumb....They were looking odds on at that point. Great catch.

Don't think we ever looked in trouble when our slower bowlers came in and the restrictions were lifted.

Good result, and keeps us right in it....

If we beat Leicestershire and Durham, then I think we'll get at least a best placed 3rd place spot at the worst. If Notts beat Lancs, I could see us nicking the 2nd outright QF spot.

I am glad we only lost one wicket

What happened to our other overseas star? Will we see him again, don't think he is available for the last group game

Bit of a surprise....Ross Whiteley leaves to join Worcestershire!! Story reads as though they havent met eye to eye on the winter with him wanting to go back to Oz and the club saying no.

Derbyshire CCC all-rounder Ross Whiteley has left the Club by mutual consent and will join Worcestershire CCC.

Head Coach Karl Krikken said: “Ross intends to pursue his career during the winter in Australia, a move which does not fit in with our plans for a full winter pre-season with Derbyshire.

“While we are disappointed to lose Ross, we have sufficient quality in the squad to make up for his departure and we wish Ross well in his future endeavors.”

Simon Storey, Chief Executive, said: “In the light of Ross’s request to be released from his contract, the Board has agreed that it would be in the best interests of Club and player that he leaves and a deal has been agreed for his immediate move to New Road.”
