Now that would be great but i cant believe he'd choose to play over here in our poxy T20 comp when he could go back and play back home in theirs. Think we can pretty much rule out out of the West Indies lot, still think with the diverse culture in Derby shall we say that getting an Indian or Pakistani would be a good choice...would certainly attract some spectators along if they were a decent player. Remember going to some cup game years back when we had Mohammad Kaif and he attracted a lot of interest.

Sehwag would be worth watching! Have we had Afridi before? Know we had Rana Naved and he was crap! Few of the Indians would be worth going for and raise the profile a bit. Plus they may attract some bigger crowds to make it not that much of an expense plus if they could help us get out of the groups then its extra money. To be honest it could be any of a number of people with the Champions Trophy just finishing...lots of decent cricketers in the country.

Afridi played for Derbyshire about 10 years ago I think, didn't do much from memory

plenty of Indian T20 specialists now with the IPL

The bit i read suggested he couldnt be bothered and didnt really have a great attitude as well during his stint. I can partly believe that!!

We had Hampshire on the ropes a bit at five down and a quick kill was needed - sadly we haven't got enough accuracy from the faster bowlers to create enough pressure. They'll probably have too much for us now though our batting line up is decent.

We will get left with needing 80 off 10 overs but I bet the wickets fade away

We're doing just about OK but I don't expect us to get close really.

Looks like Derbyshire are getting ready to announce the second T20 overseas...any hints from this paragraph from a story on Cricinfo about the Aussie ashes squad being in various parts of the country currently :-

On Wednesday they will be joined by the opener and Middlesex captain Chris Rogers, now excused from his county duties and readying himself for a final tilt at international recognition. Champions Trophy squad members not required for the Ashes will drift away in dribs and drabs, some like Adam Voges and Glenn Maxwell contracted for English Twenty20 japes, others like George Bailey and Nathan Coulter-Nile heading back to the Australian winter. Then there is Ed Cowan, still in Nottingham on county secondment, and not likely to join his Australia colleagues until Monday in Taunton, dubbed the "official" starting point of the Ashes tour.

Assume Voges will end up at Notts? Maxwell would be some signing!

Well after all the ridicule of Englands one day batting and things it looks like we are now a very good bet to make the final. South Africa 78-7 currently!!

To be fair it got sunny and those two didnt play some of the awful shots the top order did. They also got about 6/7 overs of Bopara and Root bowling at the same time. Happens a lot these days, folks down the order can bat and dont just roll over like they used to.
