On to today...starting around 3:15pm and by some miracle we've won the toss!! Will be batting first and Chesterfield lad Ben Slater makes his debut. Be interesting to see if he opens :-

Hughes, Godleman, Madsen, Durston, Chanderpaul, Johnson, Slater, Wainwright, Groenewald, Turner, Footitt

Shiv finally showing his class and well assisted by Madsen. Weather set fair for the next few days so hopefuly get a lot and go from there. That said the Surrey All Stars will take some rolling over twice.

I've actually got an England top that is very similar at home and i think was either an old training top or i think we used to have a red T20 kit.

Doesnt look right though...with the red trousers its all to much...red!! I always thought our dark blue or more recently the lighter blue kits were pretty nice.

Pressing the self destruct button at the moment.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Ben Slater making his FC debut for Derbyshire. He's batting at the moment, not a bad position to come in at.

Some poor shots from england batsmen to get out.

Slater caught behind off Tremlett for 7.

400+ a probability now barring a complete no show from the tail.

The 5 points will come in handy.

Just hope Surrey don't rack up a big first innings and we see another Derbyshire collapse in the 2nd innings!

Draw the most likely outcome for me, unless we can get a decent first innings lead, then declare whilst placed handily for a positive result on the 4th day.

Game going nowhere though at the moment. Derbyshire scored at 2 an over for the last hour. We either need to get on with it or get bowling.

In the ODI however Jade Dernbach is bowling his usual toss...apparently has the highest economy rate for any bowler who has 20 ODI wickets!! People get carried away with his so called variations when in fact its varying degrees of pie bowling!!

Not sure if my memory serves me right but I think we had a red shirt specifically for a ODI series against the convicts?! I know I bought the Old Boy one with Botham 81 on the back for Father's Day...
They're worse than Manchester United for kit changes!

Where do we start with that today? Apologies to the Ashover side for the abbreviated game, though I'm sure you were happy enough. A few poor shots, a few good balls (your best not getting wickets I though - by the way was your LBW dismissal of our left hander from your quietest ever appeal?!) and then schoolboy errors, mine especially and that was it.

Was a bit strange having so much time to fill. I've ended up going to Morton to watch a couple of old team mates then down to see the Cross lot.

That LBW I was sort if doing a few things as well as appealing going to field it then looking at the possible run out then a sort of joke appeal for lbw for the throw in then realised it had been given. To be honest it was out but I sort of got caught up with everything else.

Never good getting run out in that situation but was a good direct hit...I'm claiming an an assist for getting a couple if fingers on it initially! ;)

I'm getting there bowling wise but still not in the groove at all. Odd good one in there but struggling consistency wise. Different situation I would probably have come off after 6 or 7 but seemed a good chance to get a bit more bowling done.

Things with games like that is to forget it and move on...no point worrying about it to much.

I have been to derby today, Strange goings on after lunch, some of the derby players were took ill, Then one of the umpires went off unwell, A request for a umpire over the tannoy. The replacement umpire was one of the Surrey staff. Then half an hour later the original umpire come back on.

Yes he just did square leg in his surrey training shorts with the umps coat on. It was Ian Salisbury the former leg spinner with several counties

Just booked a week in Barbados that happens to be the week England play the Windies in some T20 games. Should be entertaining.

few low scores around on Saturday

we bowled out top of the league Darley Dale for 62 and knocked them off for 3 then a few from Cutthorpe turned up just as we were finishing as they had bowled Sandiacre 2s out for 45 and knocked them off

loads of rain then a few sunny days playing havoc with pitches? (not that ours did owt daft, we bowled well and Darley batted badly)

No blame on the track. Roger & Jon are probably as good as it gets in 5N as an opening pair but we batted very poorly. I blame my idiotic dismissal on batting so infrequently. There was a run there but I relaxed on hearing the 'keeper's end' shout & my view was blocked by the bowler but my B****Y bat wasn't grounded and so that was me done for. Particularly annoying as it was the first time I'd laid bat on ball in a year & all four came of the middle of my (borrowed) bat! Oh well.

My last ball seemed to take off from nowhere for some reason but other than that it was pretty true. I was never in a position to see but apparently Rog had it swinging around a fair bit and i trapped a couple of lads on the crease. The umpire did say to me as you walked off that had you grounded your bat you would have been fine.

I'm still yet to bat on a Saturday in a DCCL game since....28th July 2012!! Was padded up last week along with another lad but the skipper sent him in at 10 as we scrambled home off the last ball.

Cracking performance by Alfreton under 13s tonight to beat a strong Belper side at a gloriously sunny and warm Belper meadows , the cold bottles of Marstons certainly added to the evening.. :D
