On geting back into town this evening ahead of the match tomorrow, I had flick through the Derbyshire Times. I think it is appalling that the entirety of P47 is dedicated to a ManUre advert. Now, I don't live in Chesterfield anymore and I have read some bad things about the DT, but surely a local paper should not be taking this advert? I know money is something, but lets not make it everything. Is this a sad one off or a depressing recurring thing?

The DT put money in front of anything of any interest to the Local People in Chesterfield.

I stopped buying it when it stopped printing stories about local people and concentrated on sucking up to Politicians

I haven't seen it only looked at head and shoulders because 2 ppl i knew were in it,but what is the hang up with Man Utd,whether you like it or not we are associated with Man Utd one way or another, the Milburns used to live in Chesterfield they are associated with a Ex Man Utd player,a Leeds player,i hate Leeds but i don't cry every time it appears in a paper, don't buy it,i don't its crap,i bet you weren't moaning when we played at there stadium, you have said it all you don't live in town anymore your choice so you cannot moan what goes into our local paper......

lol!!! We are not connected with ManUre, we are Chesterfield the home of the Spireites. The fact we played at their ground in '97 was of nothing to do with any feelings towards them, ditto Wendy house. A Chesterfield paper should support it's team, not run page adds for another one, whoever they are.

strange bit of marketing - wouldn't have thought many people in Surrey took the DT?

the Derbyshire Times is an old sad paper that long ago had its day It is full of local rubbish that no one is really interested in. It needs all the help it can get believe me

If you don't get it... Ok, that's fine. But I do get why people, myself included don't like ManUre. I don't think a Chesterfield paper should run a full page add for a football team from another place; however nice Bob Charlton (who we nearly signed... Really?!?!) is.

Going back to my school days we all said pick a club to support,i chose Man Utd they like today was always on the tv and i sat with my Granddad watching sportsnight one wednesday night he was dying and he said George Best is on again what a player he is,i said yes i am going to watch him one day,he died that night, thats when i started to work on my dad took a while but finally got him to take me on the train to Old Trafford on my 15th birthday, siled it down with rain we was in the cantilever stand right at front getting wet we went to change the tickets it was no problem they moved us further back,36000 there that day United beat Southampton 5 - 1,my dad came again we beat Sheff Utd 2 - 0 then i knew the way, first away game legged onto Sheff Road after school tuesady night caught a white sheffield bus and went to Bramhall Lane stood with United fans drew 1 - 1 and it all took off from there, but in betwen i still followed town,it worked best if town was at home United away, stopped going regular in 80's but get a game in now and again, been on all 4 sides stood and sat on Stretford End,stood on the end before a stand was even built where Bruno and Dyche scored in 97 semi for town, all history and i am a part of it,jusr as i am with town, loved my football and would not change a thing, this is a long story cut very very short.....

I know exactly why you don't like Man Utd your jealous and don't try and worm your way out of it,they are the most successful club in this country for a long long time it shows on here when they lose a game someone pops up and spouts off in wind up mode it doesn't happen often though...

Good story, must say, I would have watched Best for your grandad... But only a couple of times, as I'd much rather be watching the Spireites!

PS you spoilt it with the arrogant 'your just jealous' ManUre crap.

thanks not that you should really have to justify it to me (a complete stranger) but as said i am interested to know why, having read that i can totally see where you're coming from, my 7 year old son, likes wolves because a few seasons ago they won the championship and he was just becomming aware of football results and they were winning every week. I have taken him to the odd wolves game and despite being a cfc season ticket holder, he still claims wolves are his first team. i'm fascinated to know how long this will go on,
