Judges have to give directions to juries all the time. Fraud cases are notorious because they tend to be very complex and lengthy, and difficult for juries to follow.
Several years ago I read 'Broken Dreams' by Tom Bower. To say it is an eye-opener is an understatement. Anyone reading that book is entitled to wonder how Harry Radknapp managed to afford to buy a house in the most expensive place in the UK (or something like that) whilst being a middling Premiership manager at a time when salaries hadn't gone totally nuts.
