lets hope chesterfield dont present the big headed 2 hat with a long sleaved shirt,i heard his antics less than impressed brian laws

alledgedly, clarke came back from injury at wednesday and was asked to play in a reserve game or something similar which he took a disslike too as alledgedly his opinion is im leon clarke i dont do reserve games on entering the dressing room the story i have been told is that clarke asked what was hanging on the peg,it was a long sleeved football shirt, clarke evidently kicked off to a member of the wednesday staff before chopping the arms off with a pair of scissors on returning to the club clarke was confronted by laws who asked him to pay for the damaged shirt ,clarke refused and the rest alledgedly is history.I have heard he is lazy arrogant and a complete muppet.I think signing a man of this stock just shows how desperate as a club and how pathetic our pre season preperations have been. His signing will make or completely break our season can we afford to gamble on such players?

before eric cantona came to england nobody in england had heard of him.cantona was opinionated there is a massive difference, clarke will really need to knuckle down to win me over, nevertheless i only have to watch him not go drinking with him.

I completely agree with you, and, i too have heard similar stories ref his attitude....but wasn't Davies reportedly like that at Brighton..the thing we have to remember is that unlike PDC at Swindon, Sheridan is a black or white kind of man..tell's it straight, no self-gonratulating, egocentric flannel...he might be stubborn (which come across as arrogant) but his ego seems to be based on achievement rather than history...he'll tell Clarke what he expects of him..what he can achieve if he listens and channels his efforts accordingly...if not he'l be out.

He may have an 'attitude' but he also has a sense of humour

his goals 'return' when on loan at Oldham was pretty good too - another one that JS can get the best out of?

If we start saying we wont have someone based on what may have happened in the past we wouldnt have signed the likes of Davies, Morgan etc over the last few years! I've spoke to a few Owls fans and all of them have said that he should be a decent signing and whilst he can be frustrating at times he is a good player and more than one told me that we should have been looking to sign him back in June\July when he was available.

Sounds a little like a certain Craig Davies that we signed last season to me!

When was this incident ? reading between the lines it seems Clarke and Laws never got on.

Laws loaned him out to Sheridan's Oldham within two months of signing him (for £300k) without him playing a game for Wednesday, after he scored 3 in 5 games Law's had him back and put him straight in the team.

I also remember Dave Allen was at Hillsborough at the time and would have an insight into Clarke's character.

I'm not disputing your views on Clarke, but many would have said Craig Davies had an attitude problem.

I don't think it's a desperate signing at all, we enquired about Clarke in the summer and I predicted last week this move might happen and will be pleased if it comes off

Im not sure when it was ,my mate was an academy coach at wednesday, but clarke has fallen foul of many managers it isnt an isolated incident at swindon and lets face it he hasnt hardly played or scored in the last 4 years,i just think when you are stuck down the bottom you need to pick a character who can come in inspire and galvanise a side,i dont see either of those words in clarkes cv,it looks on paper a massive massive gamble,i hope with all my heart sheridan has not made a season wrecking error because clarke will arrive on decent money regardless of swindon paying a slice

I'll second that. I had a sneaky feeling he'd end up here after last weeks incident. He's proven at our level, knows JS, he's an aggressive, out and out striker, with a point to prove. I think he's just what we need. I really hope he signs. If anything, in my eyes the signing would show ambition not desperation. I think he might pleasantly suprise us, and give us that option we've been missing. Let's be rate, we need SOMEONE now Jack's ruled out.
Mug?? Being wrong never gets boring!

Sheridan has signed him once already so knows what he is getting and its not a shot in the dark really as some are saying. Most of the Wednesday fans i know really liked him and thought it was an error releasing him a couple of seasons ago. I would also suggest that after the bad publicity of the last couple of weeks Clarke will have a point to prove so we should get a player raring to go.
